KY13Participant
I’m old school. Just using hand written time sheets. Sign in from the time they get to the office in the morning, sign out at end of day when they leave the office.
KY13ParticipantWe only add it to the van if its on the schedule for the day. We’re currently in the works to upgrading to a box truck though.
KY13ParticipantI have blue cross/blue shield. Think I’m paying around $140 a month.
KY13ParticipantNo I am not.
KY13ParticipantSo you’re asking $24,000 for a used 2009 van?
KY13ParticipantThanks for the input Dave. This is something that has been weighing heavily on my mind for the past couple of weeks. Oddly enough Stanley Steemer is also advertising for new employees here too. Their ad reads “You can make $8-$10 an hour!” (like that’s a lot of money).
KY13ParticipantDave- Would love to hear how you compensate your employees. I am pulling my hair out trying to come up with a good compensation plan.
How do you pay your employees? hourly/commission/salary? A combination of both? Do you offer commission for up selling? (ie; spotter bottles, fabric protector, additional rooms cleaned)May 17, 2015 at 6:47 pm in reply to: How to remove heavy soiling? (I got beat by a Rug Doctor) #156123KY13ParticipantI would recommend listen to all three of us. It appears as though we have a combined 30 years of carpet cleaning experience between us.

Our system IS capable of cleaning a carpet in that condition, but it’s not practical due to the amount of time it would take and the high price it would cost the customer. If you were to tackle something in that condition, it would definitely need a dual process (both extraction and bonnet). In my experience, the amount of money that I would charge to take on such a job, the customer could find a steam cleaner who would do it in half the time and half the price. It’s not that the steam cleaning process is more effective than our process, it’s just capable of cleaning heavily soiled carpet a whole lot quicker.

I think Kenny Rodgers said it best “You gotta know when to hold’m, know when to fold’m, know when to walk away, know when to run.”
Our system just isn’t capable of cleaning a carpet that heavily soiled. A steam cleaning system is though, and that’s what you recommend to the customer. It’s a learning experience for you though Reuben. We’ve all been there. So, the next time you come across a carpet in that condition, you make like Kenny Rodgers……..and run.KY13ParticipantI got the same text message. I replied that I don’t do business via text message and to call me. They never did. Go figure.
KY13ParticipantI agree. Only had that problem a hand full of times too. I always try plugging into the kitchen. If I have to plug into the living room, I’ll ask the customer to turn off the TV as to not trip a breaker.
KY13ParticipantThanks for the feedback Reuben. I’m gonna give it a shot. Congratulations on your new business, hope all goes well for you.
KY13ParticipantPlease attach. Would love to see.
KY13ParticipantGordon- Are you having better success with pet urine odors with OD then Pet Enzyme?
