    Thank for the increased info.
So, we’re back to mold, mildew, backing deterioration, long dry time, but residue free cleaning!
Personally, I’m glad I’m not having to compete in the steam cleaning war of words and drama. Just a great name with dry in one hour cleaning, customer referrals, great ROI website, awesome logo, low overhead, and 99.3% customer satisfaction rate. Life is Great! Have an awesome New Year!!! 🙂 !

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. Assuming from what I read, they don’t filter out minerals or other substances in water that “leave a residue”, just alter the Ph?
Distilled water is the only “complete residue free” water I know of. Do they use only distilled water or is the name Zero rez flawed from the start?
Does any of this really matter? None of these so called “residues” (contained in water) that I know of are “dirt attracting residues”. Which to me is really the issue anyway.

So, while I’m on a high horse, a much bigger issue is the deterioration of the backing due to long drying times.

P.S. Loren, the “Chemical” name for water is H2O

Ditto. I second that because I totally agree.
Set your goals and chart your course on how you are going to accomplish that and don’t be swayed. Honesty, hard work, and consistency are not only appreciated, it’s sought after. No matter how many times I read the book to my grandson’s, the tortoise always beats the hare.

Bryan, thanks for your and Vicki’s example and just flat out who you are and what you have become. Awesome!

What? Not everyone is doing this???

Is the maintenance manager the one who makes the call of who cleans the carpets or is he just trying to persuade the one who makes the decision?
If he doesn’t make the decision spend more time with the one who does. Show them your Letters of Recommendations, before & after pictures, and customer comments from evaluation cards! You need to convince them that you’re the one and only “Mr Clean”. (Well maybe you need my haircut) Ha
If he is the guy who makes the final decision, ask him point blank “From what I’m hearing, everyone else wants Heaven’s Best because… (state all the reasons). Why are you so against it? If there is something I can do better, or something I don’t know, please, educate me?
Then if the guy’s a real jerk, Stay calm!!! “Okay, I’m been in business for ___ years. I have a cleaning satisfaction rate of ___%. The carpets are dry in 1 hour. I personally know I do a matter job! What does God or I have to do to prove it to you?

I’m not there, so with what you’ve written, this would be my approach.

Dave, that’s good to hear. Maybe I mixed it to strong.
Evan, I’m going to exaggerate a little here. When it’s all over the place,(urine) and they are not willing to remove the (uncontrollable) problem, replace the carpet, pad, floor and sub-floor, and they are not willing to pay more for the treatment of pet enzymes (which at this point may not work anyway), and say “Oh, I love my cat. Just do your best”. For my own sanity, I will use OD strait in a spray form. Must I continue discussing the scene from the twilight zone?

I tried adding an once of Citrus Booster to a diluted gallon of cleaner ratio ,and went to “put it to the test.” The first two jobs (residential)said they thought it smelled like a “chemical smell”, so I went behind it with the final step deodorizer and haven’t repeated it.
    Yea, I mixed it well
Have you heard of that before?
It’s true, I’ve added a lot of OD to carpets that had bad odors or worse bad pet problems (all over), only to water eyes. The carpets needed to be burnt and replaced after the source of the problem is removed. Instead they just said to do my best…
No, I didn’t spray the cats.

I agree with what is posted. This is a tough one because we are dealing with personalities. An attitude of gratitude seems to almost always be appreciated. A sincere thank you sometimes is all that is needed. On a regular basis I get calls from those outside my states (in the business and those looking into it). Actually, I feel it is a blessing to be able to communicate with others in our business in phone calls and in seminars and so forth. I would say if you are annoyed by the person, say something like “I’m not sure I can help you with that. Have you called your state owner or read the bulletin board on the subject?” When a person is new, it can be overwhelming especially since we’ve added marble tile & grout, hard wood floor, and VCT tile. I can still remember when I joined Heaven’s Best, I talked with Cody about an hour a week. (My state owner’s cleaning knowledge was limited and my closest operator was quite a distance away and it was 2+ years into the business before I met him.) Most of us want to feel connected to something bigger than ourselves as well as avoiding mistakes. (So why did we ever have children. Right?)
I’m grateful to be part of Heaven’s Best! I know it’s not perfect, but what organization is? I know personally it’s so much better than chem-dry or being on your own. Hang in there, Carma always comes back to you. It just takes time and patience.

I suppose the 400 SF walk in closet was full and contained over 400 pairs of shoes…? Well, that’s one way to find out if your spouse REALLY LOVES YOU. Remodeling the house while living in it is another…

It’s been a little over a week since the last post on this thread so pardon the interruption. I like the synergy and direction. I like the idea of the tri fold. I like the “Big reward”. I would rather do $4k and a buffer for at least the first time referral/sale, because I want them to remember the “reward” every time they lay their eyes on it. I also want them to know I am willing to “share my profits” with them. How do you feel about counting out the cash in front of them at the next regional seminar?
I would also remind them that we only want qualified referrals. To not waste time with people that can’t clean &/or manage.

I am preparing an email to send out to my states operators first stating the great things that have come as a result of Heaven’s Best. That to almost all of them it’s family time and the freedom from having a BOSS over them! I have had more operators do 9k+ a month in the last 12 months than in any 12 months previously! I have had more 18+months (in the business) operators “better their best” in the last 12 months then ever before. I am very optimistic about the future of Heaven’s Best! I received a call from a Heaven’s Best customer moving from Tennessee to Albuquerque, NM. I have no one in Albuquerque. He had used us in Tennessee and wanted our services. I wish I could have helped him.
In this email I’ll send out it will give the number of potential customers “without an operator” list with each available area (from the “Areas searched w/no operator”).
    Example:
    Albuquerque, NM 435
    Council Bluffs, IA 35
Eugene, OR 181 + 48 from Springfield, OR (Next to Eugene) + another 42 from Douglas Co. (just south of Eugene)
    Santa Fe, NM 109
    Tulsa, OK 110
    + more

These are a few of the upper prime opportunity areas!

P.S. Still anxiously looking for the post of the “post card that came in the mail”

Easy does it? I’ll make it easy to understand. The request was doomed before it started.
In the last three months only six state owners (Cody & I included) have posted anything in the state owner section and I assume none of the other five haven’t any former military personnel in Heaven’s Best. Perhaps frustrating, but easy to understand. End of chapter.

So, I think it would be a good to include with the soon to be franchise sales site, an occupation section and in it, a list of comments (recommendations to preferably join the Heaven’s Best team) from each of our franchisees, and therefore, categorized by their former occupation(‘s).

To be more precise, I had two operators involved with Joe Polish’s marketing. Both strongly felt they could benefit a lot from the materials offered. Both felt (like Dave) that most of the info is covered already in the “Heaven’s Best marketing manual” and both felt in the end, that they paid more than they should have for what they actually received. Granted these opinions are based upon history 6-10 years ago.

P.S. An example of what some operators are doing:
(Dave I personally encourage the 9 round instead of 5.) (no, not 9 round golf)
After cleaning, visit the 5 across the street and two on each side of the house cleaned with permission of the happy, thrilled customer. (Because I am using them as a referral). I want the neighbors to 1. talk to the customer within 24 hours when they are the most excited about their experience (Use the iron when it’s hot!) OR 2. If they don’t know their neighbor (or like them) they can view my website! It’s all about effectiveness and ROI. Money and time. So order from corporate, some business cards just for this. Front: Logo, 10% OFF all our services, phone #, & website (for so many reason’s I strongly recommend a corporate endorsed, EZ net tools website). Back: List of all services (Logo in the background).
My approach is: Hi, I’m Gordon with Heaven’s Best! The reason I’m here, is your neighbor ________ (by name and extend your arm toward the neighbor cleaned) just had their __________ (carpet, upholstery, tile & grout, VCT, or hard wood floor) cleaned. This entitles you to a 10% off on all our services! (Hand them the card as you say…) We do carpet… (as listed on the back of the card) Have a great day! (And LEAVE IT AT THAT) Memorize these lines until you do it in your sleep.
You don’t want to come across pushy or even a salesman at all. Don’t try to do an estimate. Just leave it at that. You are there to develop name recognition and TRUST.

Your wording on the card, or your wording at the door may change, but this is working very well for those who have taken the time and energy to do it.

Rainy or snowy day: Visit the mom & pop shops. “Hi! I’m Gordon with Heaven’s Best! Can I give you a free, no obligation estimate?

P.S.S. There is no charge for this info!!! However, this info will do you no good unless you do it.

Yes, it sounds good. Is it worth the $$$? No. Many of the “strategies” they used, no longer apply. (Before internet etc.)
Check with the corporate office before spending your hard earned money.
I will admit. All the entry level stuff sounds great. BUT, buyer beware…
