    Terry,
I have always charged according to the time I think it will take. So, $80 an (just a sample) X 1.5 hours = $120.

I will be in Heaven’s Best for 25 years in March 2017. We all miss him. Cody’s honesty, integrity, and his ability to sincerely care to me is what made him who he was and is. Cody earned his Heaven’s Best angel wings every day. I was blessed to be able to attend his viewing (Monday) and his “Celebration of Life” (Tuesday). Cody is a totally awesome guy and literally my best friend. What I didn’t know is that so, so many people knew him and felt the same way. At the Celebration of Life, there was a lot of things said. One of those things was “… one of his Grandsons referred to him as “Grandpa Heaven’s Best”. May we all be awesome (like Cody) and live up to the title of “Heaven’s Best!”

P.S. A awkward moment turned good: Many years ago, during a “Family Home Evening” activity, I was giving a lesson and asked a question when the phone rang. My wife answered the phone, but in stead of saying “Thank you for choosing Heaven”s Best” she answered the question, “Heavenly Father” There was a pause on the line, then Cody said “I didn’t know Heavenly Father was a woman but, boy, do I have a lot of questions for you.” What a man. I hope Cody has received the answers to his questions.

At first I carried the equipment and destructive freeze things in each night. That got old quick. Then I was using a heater I bought from Walmart. It worked fine but the electric bill increased a bunch. So I went to the “Sun Heat” unit. (Infer-red heat, or what ever they call it) It has worked great and the bill dropped to the point I hardly noticed. The portable unit cost me $230. The savings and the outcome made it more than worth it, even having to take the unit in and out. (In other words, I only used it at my place)

Because the cleaner in the home is your reputation… That person is our focus and the cleaners focus should be the customer. So it’s their number one job to take care of and exceed the customers needs. The pay then is secondary. That being said, here goes the following..
Before bonuses were taxed at a higher rate, I paid my guys percentages and occasionally salary (both have to be at least minimum wage), plus a bonus (profit sharing). The bonus/profit sharing had strings attached. (It had to be continually earned) Like maintaining a 95%+ customer satisfaction rate (over a 3 month period)for example. If they didn’t make bonus most the time, I didn’t keep them. And why should I keep someone who is content with being average or just above? Customers don’t call for average. Give the customer what they want and they will continue to call and refer friends. With employees, customers, and employers for that matter, it’s about “clear expectations”. Having clear expectations streamlines the hiring process, gives them the foundation of security they’re looking for, and makes it easier to make the decision to let them go if/when needed. So, re-cleans can/should be a teaching/clear expectation moment.

    Hey Dave,
The GPS factor on the tablets can help you figure out where your guy left the tablet… oops.
    Mark,
If I still had employees or teenagers at home I would sure do it. Seems like a very valuable device.
My youngest son (age 21) works as a lineman for a company that works for the railroad. He said the GPS they provide is $250 (If they lose or break it that what they will pay to replace it). It is a GPS and tracker both. All their foreman have one, plus one for each vehicle. No idea the monthly fee.

    Mark,
What are the cost associated with the GPS trackers and how long do they record the history? Also, where do you feel is the best place to purchase one?

    David,
I wish I knew. It’s like having a massive elephant in the room. Until they fall through the floor, they can do what ever the freaking crap they want.
Okay, perhaps the only way to compete in their stupid lie and deceitful game is to tell the customer, “It’s no fun playing a game with dishonest people. If I were to compete in their game, and still be 99% more truthful, I would say “”Who said anything about “bonnets”, these are buffer pads. (Correct?) Your carpets will last two to three times longer without the Hot water guys soaking your carpets, creating mold and mildew, and deteriorating the backing of your carpet so you will have to replace the carpet every few years.” “I’m your local guy here, that does live in our community, that pays local taxes and buys local groceries, that is seeking to make an honest living, and providing you the best cleaning experience my years of training has allowed.” “I understand this carpet is a large investment and I promise to help you protect your investment by giving you my Heaven’s Best!” And if you so incline, “Scouts honor.”

I said this was a sour subject.

This is a sour subject for me because I to have lost some jobs as a result of some “implied” and/or “misleading” warranties and cleaners with OPINIONS.
    Truth…
    1. Heaven’s Best IS certified to clean Tandus carpets.
    2. THE DIRTY LITTLE SECRET: Warranties are made for the manufacture, not the consumer. To prove my point, If the warranty says “cleaned every six months” and it is cleaned six months and a day, the warranty is no good. If the carpet installer(s) isn’t certified by that manufacture, Yep, you guessed it. Warranty is no good. If the pad used isn’t manufacture certified… no good. When we say “The warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on” we mean “Getting the manufacture to stand by it”. It’s truly a joke. (If you wanted to read for an hour, I have more, but I think you understand)
To the manufacture, the “warranty” is worth millions each year, Because it’s well crafted to “releave themselves” of any and all responsibilities and accountability.
Note: To get “certified” is additional money maker for the manufacture!

Dan to lay a foundation, take the cost of the ad AND all expenses associated in that ROI (fuel, cleaner, laundry, etc.). If your deposit exceeds that it is an exceptable ad. An ad generating at least twice the total cost is a good ad and five or more times the cost is a great ad. Just my opinion.
