I’m just sad that Chevy quit making AWD vans. Anyone find a good AWD or 4×4 substitute that doesn’t take an extra 10k conversion?

If I had to venture a guess I’d say it could be the long black tube inside the recovery tank that’s leaking. It’s the only thing I can think of that would allow water down into the vacuums. I have had several pumps go bad and they seem to just find a hole in the body somewhere and drip out, but never through exhaust port.

You hit the nail on the head! I meant to reply to this thread with an update. That tube cracked at the base and was leaking. While examining it, i accidentally broke the entire thing off. So now I’m in the market for a new recovery tank.

Woohoo! winner winner chicken dinner! Give the man a samich

I have started using the multi surface maintainer as my pre cleaner on all hard surface jobs. It doesn’t seem to be as tacky as 101 and other cleaners are. I obviously don’t clean enough wood floors, as I haven’t even seen the blue stuff yet. I still have a couple bottles of brown to work through. P.S. Don’t accidentally mistake a engineered floor for real hardwood and use butchers wax. It is impossible to get shiny and a pain to get back off the floor

If something new is done, I’m about 5000% more likely to actively participate if I can easily link into it with my phone. If I have to be in front of a P.C. and log on, I’ll probably only ever get on when I’m bored or looking for something myself.

We have all our vans sprayed with a spray in insulator. With the use of a small space heater it will keep the inside of the vans above freezing even at 20 below and lower

For tracking I use the GPS on our androids along with the app followmee. It’s pretty cheap and provides history of travel, and speeds.

For time, I have a punch in clock at the shop, and I pay hourly plus 5% per job and 25% for up sales. Techs have a separate sheet to record job totals and up sales at the end of the day

We’re in Alaska so it gets a little nippy every now and then and we haven’t had any issues with our little cannon. Probably be good to bring it in over night if it’s real cold but I have left it out in the van for several hours at -20 and below and it has worked fine

The PC is of course password protected and either out of sight in the locked van or with me in the customer’s home. The only real customer info on them is names and addresses anyway so I’m not terribly worried about it as that is all public information anyway. We run all our CC through Square so that info isn’t stored anywhere once it goes through. I don’t think we have them listed separately on our insurance yet, but I think that is something I might look into soon. The last thing anyone wants is a Target scandal.

The surface we got was $1000, but there are two less expensive models available (we got the pro version as it runs a full version of windows 8 and I didn’t want compatibility issues). A good bluetooth portable printer will run around $300 (we have the canon I100 which we have had with no complaints for about 4years now). The mount was around 120 but they have several options so price could vary. File cabinet was 30ish we just got the cheap walmart one as they are smaller. You will want a keyboard which you can get a cheap small wired one for 20ish but I like the small Bluetooth one I picked up for 70. That’s pretty well it for hardware.

Just ran past this post again and thought id let yawl know what were using. We invested in the new microsoft surface pro (an amazing computer) and bought a vehicle mount from a company called ram mounts. we have a mini file cabinet between seats that the printer sits on and everything is connected via Bluetooth. works awesome. We take the tablet in to do all the measurements then print two copies have one signed and were good to go. nice copies, as many as you need, and they are all stored in an index able electronic file for later

I have used TGP and dry solvent before as a last ditch effort to resurrect a dead couch, and it can work but it takes a lot of time and i’m sure it drys out the leather something fierce. i would never do it on any high vis area until all other avenues had been tried and the owner was informed and given clear probably written consent.

I have found some success in hiring school teachers. most are very eager for some extra summer work, and seldom do you have to worry about reliability

One solution i found before working with HB for car stink is coffee beans. It actually helps nutralize the odor when its locked up long enough with it. I would just buy a small cup of whatever grocery french roast smelled the best and leave it in there for a week or so and like magic the smell was gone. I dont know if i would use this in an offical way, but it might help someone out who either doesnt want to spend money to get it done right, or one you dont want to deal with.

We have revamped yet again. My wife now takes care of all phones and scheduling (currently on paper, but we are quickly working on converting to primarily an ipad for in office). After she gets the calls she enters them into google calander and we get them real time on our android phones all color coded and easy to read. This also works well when we as operators need to schedule something on sight. We have whats available right in front of us.

When things are slow we are scheduling 2-3days out. During the summer it starts pushing 2 weeks
