I am in shock…I have had many, many customers use Windex on their carpets as a cleaner!!!!!!!

It makes sense that too much could stain…great tip…

    Thanks,

Most companies have a number you could call to determine how to handle certain accidents with their product. Like swallowing or getting into eyes…I would suggest you call the manufacturer and solicit their help…they might have a remedy or possibly the cure for you.

My personal rule of thumb goes something like this: if what I do or did helps lighten it…then we are going in the right direction. Maybe further applications of the enzyme may help even more…possible use of the extractor might help…

Call John or Cody and let them know what you are doing and they are almost always able to assist….

    Hope this helps a little…

We have a $90 minimum. That being said, we do a lot of work for one client and if they have a quickie, spill or spot to clean and will take a few minutes, we charge $50, usually incorporating the stop with other work.

Around here, to get anyone to come to your home for less is pretty much unheard of…I might consider raising later…but $90, right now, to me, sounds better to the ear of the potential customer. I would think that $100 might be a little high since no one I know of has a $100 minimum to come to my home for any service.

But then again, if it works, go for it and let us know the results.

    Wish you the best…Dave

Unless I am mistaken…when the grout dries on he tile, the layer made a huge mistake. I have seen this before and was told by the manager that it is virtually impossible to take off. I would ask the customer if he could get the tile layer to remove the grout left behind first…

Call Big Bad John…and take his advice. You run a great risk of ruining the new tile finish/glaze by mechanically removing the grout.

Wish you the best…just my thoughts. I have walked away from a couple of bath jobs just like this due to the nature of the beast. The risk/reward ratio was not in my favor. If not, I walk…or run.

Mine have done the same thing on occasion…stopping. I click the on/off switch several time and nudge it with the step and starts right back up. The burning smell at first working the machine is normal.

To use the Nobles on steps is far too dangerous compared to the Oreck…

    Hope the above helps.

What about all of the other operators in Fl? Are they all in the same boat as you? I know everyone comes north in the summer, bur many of the northerners are too stupid and come there in the summer for vacation. I would think there is still business with all of the movement of people… of course I could be wrong. What about all of the other operators Gary, also Ron should be able to help out…

    Gary,

One more thing…get a copy of The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale. If you are negative…you will transmit that negativity to those you are with or around. Dr. Peale noted this back in the early 50s and others have tried to copy…with other methods and names.

Positive people and attitudes attract the same and negative the same…

Just a thought. It does wonders for me since my wife got me hooked a while ago. See the glass as half full, no matter what…and something that doesn’t work in our business gets you closer to that which will, ask Cody.

I doubt that any of us on here have ever seen Cody depressed or down…at least not for any length of time…good role model in that area.

In short Gary, attitude is very, very important…

Just a thought or so…gotta go. Wish you the best.

    Gary,

Things are slow in many places right now.

Get to know real estate agents, send thank you notes/letters and give 5 +++ business cards and/or brochures to each and every customer…they get used. Word of mouth…takes a little time.

Talk to Barry &/or Jim in D.C. When they first started out, they told me that they went door to door…in short, you have to do what you have to do in order to get business.

Any strip mall that has carpeted or hardwood or tile floors is a possibility, but impossible…IMPOSSIBLE…if they do not know who you are. We are an alternative to the other guys and when tried, they like us, usually a lot.

Hope this helps…I also read the Proverb for the day, every day, and that really helps…sets my mind in the right place and mood for the day.

Just wrote this between jobs and meeting a guy from the local newspaper for lunch to discuss ads for this next year instead of high cost YP/YB ad.

Much easier to remove bag and replace and no puff when starting up and dust and whatever out of the sight of the customer….great idea though. Thanks..

Many of the operators are way too young to remember the gas crisis in the early 70s….awesome. The national speed limit was 70…which meant 80+ and then went to 55…fast. Carpooling was invented and finally gas hit $1.00..
we all knew the world was ending soon.

Paid $2.79 two days ago and felt good about it….scary.

Too busy to watch TV and worry about SS or CD. I rarely see their vans around anyway. I drive my van everywhere….it is very visible and it has gotten me calls. I have had no car for several years now…wife has one though.

The new YP/YB ad has not worked as well as our former one, but that is another topic…we will be going to a minimum ad and more into newspapers.

TV is way too expensive for us for sure…word of mouth is better and cheaper.

Gary, the guy you spoke of….were you cleaning for him, or was he just projecting his ideas? You could offer a freebie and show him a clean woven turf final pad…see what he says then.

What kind of time is used here and why? I am reading the above message and it is Monday evening at 10:25 pm….not the 19th at some time…

Welcome anyway…just venting. Remember this, if you use FAE…by using it and the 101 cleaner, the carpet will most likely not dry in 1 hour…and berber almost always takes longer here to dry…

By the way, my wife and I were born and raised in Indianapolis. Welcome

    Dennis, THANKS!

One more quickie…how long can we wait using mixed FAE before it’s effectiveness is kaput? I believe we are to wait about 10 minutes or so for it to become activated…then how long is it active for?

    Thanks, Dave
