The part about “if spots return so do we” is where you got taken..You have to look at every angle like a customer. very seldom do I tell customers that their carpet will be dry in one hour. When they ask me “will it really dry in one hour”? I tell them if they have regularly maintained their carpet and it is not heavily soiled in most cases it can be dry in one hour or so…that is still better than 24 -78 hrs. I would have given this customer a spotter bottle and showed them how to use it..then put them on the inactive list…

I use towels on all berber (when i take berber jobs) after thin pad and dirt napper. I have been using bath towel size not finishing towels. I have found that they remove more soil than any pad known to man..if you really want to clean,,finish off every job with a towel…

I put my sprayer on a hand truck years ago (permanently) and it helped a ton. I put 25 ft sections of hose together with quick connects and put the sprayer in a central location thus not having to move it with each room..I use their luggage cart for carrying pads, sprayer, buffer, etc. Also i use a exstension cord to keep from plugging and unplugging. We are sometimes doing 20 rooms a day.
I know apts. don’t have these carts but all the big home stores do.

I focus on carpet and upholstery only,, jack of all and a master of none comes to mind, how much stuff do you want to carry in your van ? it is great for the franchise to have it for all to try..I choose not to. I did a huge tile and grout job a few months back and they thought it looked great….but what a pain. The tile was the old red terra cotta with 3/4 inch grout. It tore up the rubber lip on the wand in about 5 mins. We made a good profit but I will not do any tile cleaning. I have a number for a guy that does hard surface flooring of all kinds in my area and will send the work his way.

Buff with what you want, dirt napper, bbc, woven turf, cotton, green stripe but the final should be a finishing towel, then a finishing towel, then a finishing towel, then another finishing towel for good measure.. or the easy way out …don,t clean berber..!!

I Have a trick I use on the dirt napper. along the outer most portion of the napper, you know the part that comes in contact with the base boards,,, I took some eletricl tape and wraped it around the edge a couple of times…when it gets paint on it I just unwrap and replace…works faily well and is faster than cleaning the paint off with tgp…I learned the lesson the hard way when the paint that rubs of baseboards to the napper then comes off on everything it comes in contact with… dark furniture etc..

I test the sofa ,chair, loveseat etc for wieght. If the sofa is not a sleeoer and the room permits it I just tilt it on it’s back, same goes for loveseats and big chairs, makes it real easy to vac and rake under them and put tabs down. I have 90% of my customers move the small stuff and what i call “breakables” I try not to move things unless I have to.
