Maytag Neptune front loader. Replaced the “boot” I think that’s what he called it. The seal around the door. And that’s it after 5 years.

    – blower motor in the upholstery mate sucked the rubber isolater between the motor and chassis in and burned up the motor. The smoke set off the fire alarm in the commercial building I was working in and of course the fire department responded. The customer now refers to me as “Old Smokey”. And yes I still clean there.

    – cleaned a college apartment the day after school was done for the year. Young man passed out on the couch. Tried multiple times to wake him up. No luck. So I put my movers under the couch and slid him and the couch in another room. He woke up while I was cleaning and was more than a little confused! Oh to be young again!

I would also like to thank you for sharing this information. I’m not ready for employees yet, but thats the goal!

I agree with the information that Mike shared. I had an opportunity to initiate goal setting in a warehouse I worked at and was amazed at the results. I would be happy to share more detailed information if anyone would like. Much of it is the same as Mike’s response. Keep that communication going, verbal and written.

I had a young man call last week asking if we were hiring. I asked him what his expectations would be and he very matter of factly told me he was looking to make $75,000.00/yr. I had all I could do to keep from telling him, so am I!

    Have a great day everybody!

Thanks for the info. on the RX20 and wand. I’ve never seen the RX20 in person but it looks like it would be heavy. The only wand I’ve used is the one I got from HB and I try to avoid using it as much as possible!

I also believe we can out clean the competition!

    Have a great day!

We have a HWE competitor that recently purchased new equipment that was advertised as being able to dry in 90 minutes. He did a demonstration at a chamber meeting on a very dirty commercial grade carpet that was dry in less than 1 hour without any fans etc.

    Mike,

8.25%! I thought Minnesnowta was bad at 6.5%. I have 3 territories in MN and each of them charges a different rate sales and use tax (from 6.5% to 7.5%.) So I have to keep track of each territory seperately.

To answer your question about how the state knows what you purchase and what use tax applies. In MN they publish a list of all the items they consider taxable by business type. Fortunately, not all of the HB products are subject to use tax, all of the equipment is (in MN.) They do leave it up to the biz owner to declare what has been purchased and I report that amount quarterly. And I keep a log of purchases also. I guess it would be up to each individual how closely they adhere to this. I report every thing. And sleep very well at night!

    Dave,

I took the proactive route as well and brought my error to the attention of the Mn Dept. of Revenue, before they found it. As such, they were willing to waive any of the penalties invloved. And since it was my first year of business, that was the only year involved. And you are absolutely right, ignorance is not an excuse.

    Dave,

Take Mr. Sutton’s advice and find a qualified tax account to help you with this. I had a bad experience with this when we started. The first accountant I worked with told me I did not need to pay Use tax. I was later “invited” by the state, MN, to pay Use tax on all my qualified purchaces from HB including the appropriate penalties. Starting from the first purchase from HB (equipment package/product when we purchased the biz). I have since hired a new “qualified” accountant and tried to become as knowledgable on these tax laws as I could (cya). Cody did cover this during our training and I just didn’t follow through on this properly. The laws differ from state to state. So what applied in my case may not in yours. But you do need to be sure and follow up on this! I learned the hard way!

That’s right! The champions will be from right here in “we’re Due-luth, MN”. Not only will that happen, I believe the Vikings will win the Superbowl this year!

By the way, the microfiber cleaned up great. Thanks again to Mr. Sutton and Mr. Devlin for the input.

Thanks for the info on the microfiber. I hope these are in better shape than the two Officer (to serve and PROTECT) Sutton did! Seriously though, I really appreciate your help gentlemen! Have a great day.

    Bryan,

Thanks again for the advice (seems like I heard these words of wisdom some place). I really didn’t want to clean a flea infested house! We cleaned a house that had skunk smell from a dog that had been sprayed last week and I think I spent more time trying to get the smell off of my equipment than cleaning the house. Didn’t charge nearly enough on that job. But, it still beats a day chained to a desk at my old job!
