So what you are telling me is, right out of the gate (first month) the NEW operator has a $1,200.00 a month royalty payment, with half going to Corporate ????? Does not sound like a good plan to increase sales to me!!!!!!!!

I have so many concerns, I could not possibly enter them all here !!!!!!!!!! With that said, I now sell an area of Min. 100,000 people for protected territory and was strongly considering going higher. How do you sell a larger area like Orlando (900,000 pop.) to 9 different operators??????? That would be an impossible nightmare to keep them all on the “right side of the street”

One other thing i did not mention that i like about the Rainbow Int. Web site is, they have a live chat room. Great way to get persons name, phone number, and other information real quick about why they are on our site. Better chance for us to call them back and get them interested in us instead of another cleaning Franchise !!!!

    Some ideas for thought!!!!!!
While I agree with Cody’s statement that many a company runs losses on their financial statements, it still is not the best way to run a business, and a lot of them do fail, if they fail to take no action. I am not one for asking for Cody’s “head but I do believe he has talents in the state owners and he is not taking advantage of it. He must change direction of the way we are going or we could see results we all will not be happy with. With that being said, I would like to “throw out an idea for sales. He even said , a few more franchise sales would make a big difference. I think that is where we need to go, SALES. First I must say, I will not address increases in royalty fees (you all know how I feel about that, and it has not changed). If a large part of sales is having happy operators, than I can’t see how putting more of a burden on them, by increasing their fees, will help that cause.
Let Corporate pick 3-5 people for an advertising committee, 1 from corporate office and 2-4 from state owners This committee will research, discuss, and implement the best way of advertising moving forward. All meetings can be done through webinars. In order for this to be successful it will need to be financed. I suggest over and above the $200.00 a month we now pay, we have a sliding scale of payment to Corporate to be emarked only for this purpose. These are only guidelines, can be changed however the committee feels. A state with a total pop. of 500,000 to 3 million will pay $1,500.00, States with pop. of 3.1 million to 5 million will pay $2,000.00. States with pop. of 5.1 million to 10 million will pay $3,500.00 and all states over 10 million will pay $5,000.00. This onetime payment needs to be paid to Corporate within 30 days after formation of committee.
It is time we spend money to start making sales, Cody has given us an out if we do not wish to stay in the business. I agree with Dan, the first thing is a new web site strictly for Franchise sales and then staying on top of it with SEO and PPC. This will take a fair amount of money. I personally would like to see an ad in the Franchise section of the USA Today a few times a year.
The committee will also have the responsibility of bookkeeping and we can ask anytime to see how our money is being spent.
This will be a very small investment for the returns we will see.
Please share with all of us your ideas, instead of calling Cody and only sharing with him. Thank You for listening.

I’m on the road to NH so i will make this short. Raising royalty fees is not the answer !!!! Growth is the answer or a co. will die. I have a plan, i will write as soon as i get to NH. To hard to do on my cell phone. That post was to get everyone’s attention that we need a plan quick !!!

    Your welcome.

When I scanned that document on the B. B. it moved a few things around. the word comments: is on the right hand side of the page in all places instead of next to the other words, so you have room to write some comments.

Bryan, I missed in my last post a very important point. When I ride with my people, I have 2 operators who say : thanks for coming for the day, it means a lot to me that the state owner really cares about my business and it recharges the batteries for the next 6 months !!!!!

I have been doing this for years ( riding with and evaluating my operators). I have a 2 page operator evaluation form that I use. I will need to see if I can find it on my computer, being at my summer home in NH, I do not have a hard copy. If I find it, I will forward it to you. If you don’t plan on riding before Sept. 1st, I will be back home. I can say I think this is a great idea, it’s the same as checking on the store front, something all good franchises do. How else will we ever know what their equipment looks like ? I had some real shockers over the years but feel that by checking often it eventually ” weeds” out all the bad operators. Knock on wood, all my operators are doing very well and happy with their purchase of a Heaven’s Best franchise. I’d like to think that some of their success is directly related to my checking in on them and caring about the way they run their business.

    Bryan,

Sorry it’s taking so long for an answer, but after trying twice, 2 long winded paragraphs, hit submit and they were deleted, I gave up. Typing this one from my “main frame” computer in office. It is a question that is hard to answer. No I’m not happy with results after 5 months but, I’m new at this (franchise sales over web) and they tell me it’s like gardening. you go to the big box store and buy potting soil, seed, fertilizer, and go home and plant, water and wait. Sometime it grows quickly and other times it dies !!!!!!! All this SEO, and PPC (they tell me) are the seeds, fertilizer and water, now it’s the waiting game. I do know that if I’m not doing this type of advertising then I don’t know what to do !!!!!! I gave them a budjet for a year with no contract and we will have to judge at end of year. The amount of hits are growing each month so that is a positive. I also think that all S. O. should have a web presence for sales, sometimes the S.O. that also run areas lose site of what needs to be done for sales. It would help all of us if each owner had visibility on the web. If we all started a web site now, I believe we would be satisfied at the results 2 years down the road. Remember you have to plant seed and water before we make sale.

Hey Dennis, can I be part of that question you put to Gordon?

I spend $500.00 a month with Web.com to manage my web site and placement for 1 year. Not under any contract. It is used for SEO, Google ad words, pay per click, and their associated costs.

    Hi Dennis,

I don’t even know what links are, never mind broken!!!!!!!!! That’s why I pay a web service to take care of everything. I will call tomorrow and see what they have to say about my “broken links”
    Thanks,
    Ron
