We use a pad for the Oreck to stand upon. It protects the velcro from gettting smashed and ruin the driver. Works great for that.

Ammon…I have put the 101, mixed in a 32 oz sprayer, heated and sprayed.

It works great. Just have not incorporated into practice. I thought of buying a microwave and using in the van with an inverter. I would not like to use in a customer;s micro…

By the way…seeing the steam plumes from the 2 reactors almost every day is all I can stand…

if you lived within 25 miles of the Three Mile Island reactor, you would know what nuking is…

It is a pretty common reference to the microwave cooking of food..nuking whatever it is…maybe I misspelled.

Has anyone nuked our C-101 and used it normally?

I did once or twice and it worked well, but not since. I would like to see a test myself….probably will do myself. I would be willing to bet a couple of bucks that across a high traffic area, a swath cleaned with hot C-101 would look cleaner, clean faster and all around better than with cold/ambient temp C-101. Basic chemistry says I am right…

One could do this and not compromise the system at all, and quite possibly clean better.

Weigh in Cody..am I right or wrong?

I seem to remember Cody telling us in class not to enter into contests like this…can be dangerous. I say, if you do…WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take every possible advantage to do the best you can.

Just my 2 cents as well…

    Thanks,

Does anyone in Alaska use tile? Not to sound stupid, but I would think that it might be a tad cold for most feet in the morning….That is the biggest complaint about it in northern areas…Just a thought.

I would think that wood and possibly carpeting would be used to give some insulation from the cold ground.

The old cleaner worked pretty ok for most t&g here…no or very low foam…I don’t like to add more chemicals to control foam. More $$ I spend and less profit….something else to have to keep track of in the inventory, and keep from freezing.

Apparently someone had reviewed us with no name and we got a nice job off of it several months ago. None since….but no cost. I hate the concept and will never join it at all. We have no control over the statements made by others about us…not great.

Their commercials are all over the TV here. I thought they were everywhere.

I wish anyone and everyone the very best in attempting to sell anyone, anything in the economy that some in Washington have given us….the very people who started the giveaway back in the early 90s are the guys fixing things now…

I doubt that the 10k figure sticks….8-10% sound more fair now…

    Wish all the best.

    Matt,

I have no idea how they will be judging…but I do know one of the best ways. Walking over the damp carpet with white socks! If the carpet is dirty, it will…WILL…show.

You might test yourself before the clean off…with this test. The HWE guys would fail it miserably…. Not as easy to do as it may sound either, but if you are pretty dry, will be impressive.

Oh, and wear booties when cleaning…makes a heck of a good subliminal impression on the customer.

One more thing..try to clean the others after they are done….show what they left behind..if you are the last guy.

    Hope this helps…

    Dave,

To get $40-$45 / room for just the path around the bed, etc..how much are you charging per sqft?

I never figured this out, how to charge per square foot….Do you have different charges per square foot for a small and potentially dirtier area or hall than say a living room or larger cleaner area???

This whole arna of charging is so foreign to me…I suppose that if I had gone on a few jobs and heard the patter, it might make sense….I believe tht almost all around here charge by the square foot and charging by the room may kill me on some deals….wish I could get the hang of it.

Mathematically challenged I think and much to slow to figure out and give a quote over the phone.

    ANy help would be appreciated…thanks

I have yet to see a small room like a bedroom that wasn’t more difficult to clean than most larger rooms. If occupied by one person or two, the high traffic area around the bed and into the room and possible bath is more confined and much dirtier (usually) than a larger bedroom with more carpet to walk on and the high traffic area not quite as bad.

For this reason, I would never discount a small br…it is almost always worse than the others…

Also, in sq ft pricing, do you guys back out all of the furniture that you are not moving? Like the bed, dresser, etc and charge for the 2-3 ft path only?

    Just my thought and question..

I think many of us have thought what you have thought before. We are in our 6th year as well and I had the opportunity to follow a HWE guy about 2 hours after he cleaned…looked good, until my BBC hit the carpet. First off the dirt he left was totally unbelievable and second, the animal hair loaded the pad.

I don’t know if it was a good job done by them, bad or mediocre..but one thing it did for me was to squash the mere thought that HWE was better…it is another system, but it cannot remove hair and dander as ours does and true cleanliness is somewhat arbitrary and not an absolute.

If you can follow a HWE guy, do what I did, you will most probably get the same results.

I have gone into many homes where there was no current pet or there has not been one for years and pulled out a ton of hair buried…or from around the baseboards and this after several or more HWE cleanings by others…others in HB land must have had the same experience.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Dave

P.S.- Please keep my wife’s safety in your prayers..she flew to Houston to visit our daughter and hubby for the weekend and see their home…and Houston…Thanks
