We are on our 4th Nobles trying to get one right and the 4th one has the sticking safety release swith as well. These buffers are not quality buffers. My 3 year old buffer switch is fine and no problems.

They know they have problems..just not owning up to them unless pressed.

Call Jim Dickey or Barry Lowenthal in DC…they used it and I think others have as well. I know that they bought the rights, about $500 if my memory serves. Cody was looking into trying to purchase some corporate rights I think. Not sure of status… Copyright laws are really serious stuff. In RCA, we had a real problem with it. Hope this helps. Not trying to stir up stuff, only protecting you. Dave

Hope they allow you to use the laundry facility for all the pad cleaning you will be doing…anyone figure out how many pads will be needed?

    Ron,

Did you purchase the rights to the winged cherubs? Can you tell me how much they cost? I wanted to buy them earlier, but it was a rather high price then and I didn’t want to publish without owning them. The owners might get a little mad…Well, actually nore than a little.

Looks pretty good though…in those colors as well?

    Tyler,

I also found this from Socrates’ pen…much too arrogant for Einstein to have uttered.

“And in knowing you know nothing, makes you the smartest of all.”

Unbelievable that Socrates penned that more than 2,500 years before Einstein gave is quote. I wonder if Einstein read Socrates?

    Sorry,

I got a little confused in my old age. I had heard or read something like that before.

I guess Einstein paraphrased Socrates “I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance” written in Diogenes Laertius. (Some 2500 years before Einstein)

Unfortunately I was saddled with leaning Latin and a lot of Greek in HS. A little of it stuck…very little.

I would have sworn it was Aristotle though…

    Bryan…

Excellent idea. That would reduce the tendency to curl for sure. I have seen this as we clean a lot of upholstery.

    Thanks,

I thought Aristotle said that…about how little they knew..

I said nothing about a website.

I agree with Brian. If you use TGP, or Dry SOlvent and a few other misc compounds, be extra cautious…They are among the most hazardous chemicals you may introduce into a home. Read the MSDS and follow the istructions and maybe do alittle more research on your own.

I am at a disadvantage, I used to work with OSHA as an Industrial Hygienist and was trained in chemical exposure. It is very prudent to read and follow the instructions on the MSDS and then also research a little beyond to understand the meanaing of what you are reading.

Brian is right…keep it simple for the customer and perhaps offer the 101 MSDS for their review if needed.

    Matt….

Just, what is an organic solution? I don’t think I would put that in any YP ad or any ad for that matter. Organic foods is one positve use of the word, with rather specific meaning. But, Organic Liquid??? that is an entirely different thing. Like you said organic chemistry exists, I would ad it is not necessairly good or environmentally friendly. Oil is organic and all of its derivatives. I am surprised that Cody has not comented on this.

We use the Nobles and the scrubber attachment. Seems to work fine and use the Ninja and squeegee to clean up the hard surface cleaner. Work great and also wors great on linoleum…linoleum really looks awesome next to the mop & bucket job.

We have never, ever placed pricing in print. We DO post discounts.

Currently 15% off and then a Seniors Discount 20%. In the Yellow Pages in our ad. Posting pricing makes the decision NOT to buy from you very easy.

Our charges are $45/average room or area, less the 15% or 20% discount. Pricing winds up the same place or better at the end of the day, we have a new customer who then can tell others about their deal.

PEOPLE LIKE AND CRAVE DISCOUNTS. Dsicounts feed the WIIFM factor that we all crave at one time or another.

Low price is one thing and the feeling of getting a good DEAL is another…

People like and more importantly appreciate the feeling of getting a DEAL!!!! We do not give the discounts for evening and Saturday appointments…nor Sunday emergencies.

Whatever happened to the Yellow Pages? My phone is ringing and we are building business unlike the previous 2 years. Our referrals and repeat business have been awesome over the past 2.5 years.

    *************
Lifted from competitor info to franchisees…

“The market is constantly changing. 20% of the people of this country change addresses every year. Sure, you’re going to get a certain percentage of repeat business, but experience has proven that 30% to 40% of the professional’s customers each year should or will be new customers, customers who call because of recommendations received or because of advertising.”**************

I don’t have the years of experience like others, but when Carpet Cleaning ranks as #29 in the most referenced listing in the Yellow Pages (Restaurants being #1)…We are going to be there. YP/YB get some 8 billion +/- hits a year. And we are #29 on that list???

I would much rather be working on a job, answer my cell phone and setting an appointment, or pull off the road or drop whatever I am doing and set an appointment…and let the YP/YB get the business for me.

We get a lot of business from realtors and cleaning services as well.

By the way, when a potential customer calls your business phone…what do they hear? A recording or your live voice? In the prime time of day? Potential customers are calling to get pricing, learn more or set an appointment… If you do not answer the phone…the next guy they call in the Book just might. (Yeah..I know someone is saying some stroke you…they do…so what?)

I am not worrying about getting business…I am concerned if my son and I can handle the business coming at us now and the future.

The #1 position in our Yellow pages has 14 vans and has been business since 1950 or thereabouts. #2 listing is Stanley Steamer and #3 listed is Heaven’s Best. All 1/2 page ads. Being in business only 2.5 years and having such a placing is a coup.

I let the other guys advertise in the Clipper and ValPak and pay huge amounts…All surveys I have read show the Yellow pages to the the #1 place customers look for carpet cleaners.

Coupled with a coupon and a nice ad, it is getting responses…a bomb???

Guess I don’t understand that term and Is served in SEA.
