Rick, I did not really change my mind, I am looking into an alternative to the hoover equipment. I just have not made the choice as of yet..

HWE done correctly works very good…and they have equipment out now that can extract much better than the old type..any process is only as good as the operator…in my opininion extraction removes more dirt than low moisture.

O.K. Back from ground zero now,,What is intailed in the bag conversion??
I don’t have a problem with the thing being a tank…it always works well but that dirt cup….and the outer bag…..and those clips, Hoover really has to do better with that. I would consider changing to the paper bag type but I will use it at home…not on my jobs.

I am out of state for the next 8 days on vacation. I did not want to down play HB in any way I want to down play the conquest vac. the retainer clips broke( the ones that hold the bag on) and the bag blew off and made a huge mess, the dirt cup clips have broken a few times as well and made messes. I really am not interested in converting to a paper bag. I change my belts on a regular basis and replace the beater bar etc. etc. I am certain I can find a vacuum that will perform as well as the conquest, I will repair it but am through using it as a part of my equipment. Thank you for your reply cody, it is good to know you watch the board.

    Ron,
I have a hand truck that I got at home depot for $19 bolted the sprater to it . The hose is only 3/8 of an inch in Dia. I coil it up and bungie it to the cart …..it works great..my next goal is to make one one with a retractable hose reel…I will sell them for $200….less sprayer

I have the nylon reinforced hose, It will take higher temps. than others.
I also put quick connects on all my hoses in order to make them longer or shorter. The Upholstery Mate solution hose is 15 ft and my power sprayer is 25 ft. In some cases I leave the sprayer on the porch. you can pick up the hose at any of the larger hardware stores. One thing to remember is unless you have the criming tool you will have to use hose clamps, and the kinda suck. I can remember at one time corporate would make them for you ….any length..?

They called us and dictated what they were willing to pay and we turned it down.
I think it was around .10 per sq ft. We went and checked out a store and it was huge and filthy. Tons of gum as well. We turned them down.

WOW some of you really have high minimums I have a hard time getting $85. And yes I do think it is a tough time for service people. I would have to say that of the service people I talk to, 85-90% say they have had a slower year. Our first 1/4 was horrible this year, The old saying that people clean instead of replace has’nt proven true for us. With fuel prices what they are now peolple are puting the money in the tank. The realty accounts have all but dried up for us, I can count on one hand the jobs from real estate agents this 1/4.

You have to have a minimum..I tell people I charge $85 and they say thank you and hang up…YES…I hate one room jobs even at $85..unless I am in the area..in fact I turned down a three area job because it was not worth it with gas prices the way they are, this was a job they wanted done on a day I had nothing scheduled. I have been trying to book jobs to my schedule as much as posible in order to save a little gas, and it still hits the pocket hard..It is a tough time to be in a service industry….

Extraction is far superior to HB system in some cases. In my opinion HB does not clean as well when carpets are not maintained properly. The other day I cleaned some carpet and used new pads and still had to finishing towel the room several times, the pads just don’t do the job.
I don’t really have what I would call extraction capability so I just had to use a ton of pads and towels. That is a case where HWE would have been nice. As far as a speel, you can’t convince some people that low moisture is the way to go. In my ad that is coming out I stated we are a greener cleaner, you know no engine running while we clean…We will see what that does..

    GOOD LUCK
