This little white product does work very well. But it comes with a caution. It is highly corosive. Ph on this thing is off the charts. It can and will burn skin. Little children should not use this. Other than that it works very well!

This one particular organization helped put me on the map. I used my 10min and gave a demonstration of how the system works. (ended up cleaning for the restaurant on a qtrly basis). Make things fun! I once used a pair of briefs (tighty whiteys) to demonstrate our protectant. A bit on the odd side I would admit. (For those who know me its not so odd) Sprayed the briefs the night before. The next morning showed how water/moisture stains “bead” off the briefs thereby demonstrating how our product protect not only your carpets and upholstery but one can wear one pair of shorts for a whole week and save time and money later!

It got the point accross and we all had fun in the end.

For the price of $10 per room what sort of service does that include. Do you move any furniture, beds that sort of thing?

I use the “wooden” dirt knapper brush plate. The woven turf pads fit just fine under this particular brush plate. These brush plates are a special order product and because of this the delivery times are lengthy. These brush plates are a bit aggressive and can cause damage to furniture and baseboards. But that being said, I would use them over the current standard issue dirt knapper plate any day…

Woven turf pad always. I use the wooden plate dirt-knapper brush plates. I have a couple of different brush plates that are used for different types of carpet and conditions. In total I have 7 different brush plates. (kinda like having different hammers for different types of nailing purposes) I have used the regular pads and have a good to simular results as with woven turf pads. But the one thing that keeps me buying the woven turf pad is that they last longer than the regular pad. It’s an economic issue with me more than anything else. Regular pads have a shorter life span. I have been in business now just about 5 years and just recently threw away my orignal woven turf pads. They were definitely shot for sure. I rotate the older pads to the type of work that has tons of dirt and use a prescrubs. The older ones still work but just don’t look as great anymore. (kinda like me I guess…. )

I guess my answer is…. “Maybe”. It would depend on what the cost are. I can have this done locally by very reputal business’s and in return have the potential of getting business from those same business’s. The last time I checked Cody already had a carpet cleaner… (plus I think the milage fee would be a bit too high for me to drive there)

All of the aforementioned suggestions are right on. There is also the little trick of spraying a returning spot with HB protectent. This product does a superb job of keeping stains from setting into the carpet but it also does an equally good job of keeping those little wicking problems from coming back to the surface. I’ve had to use this trick a time or two over the years.

There is a propane heater made by “Mr Heater” that has a single or double ceramic burner depending on your desire. With the price of gas today I lite the burner instead of running the van. Many times I spend 2, 3, 4 hours per job. That would burn a lot of gaseline. Now i burn up about 1 to 2 16 oz bottles per day if needed. If your worried about fumes, they are minimal. When you load the equipment back into a warm van the doors are opened up allowing fresh air within. This particular unit is indoor safe anyways according to its literature. I wouldn’t leave it running while I was driving around tho. But then again it does have a “tip over” safety shutoff.

The bottles cost me $2.50 per. I paid 67.00 at my local LOWES for the single burner unit. Works just fine…

Grant: This subject was mentioned a while back and when it came up for a vote among existing operators it was basically voted down as not enough operators would get on board the program. I voted for the program. Corp wanted it for sure. But, again not enough people would get on board to make it viable for the underwriter.

It is my hope that some day that is changed. There are many potential new operators who would make that decision to purchase a franchise if some sort of health insurance was availible.

I hope Cody tries this again someday to get this availible for us.

Ultra Shield found me. I did not go looking for them. Should someone want to pursue this a contact phone number is 800.679.3195. My contact person was Elaine @ ext 223. However she may not be the correct person to contact in setting up potenial new business, but, she may offer help in getting that done.
On this particular job Ultra Shield paid only for a spot cleaning. The customer paid for cleaning the rest of the sofa plus a matching love seat.

They pay in 30 to 45 days.

If you accept a work order from them they will send you either by fax or email the form/workorder/service report. Customer must approve the end results and sign the service report accordingly. Fax the Service report along with an invoice to 877.679.3195. And the check should come in 3 to 5 weeks.

Ultra Shield mailing address is PO Box 3230 Somerset, KY. 42564.

Just my opinion but I wasn’t real impressed with how the Ultra Shield product worked. The furniture never beaded up our cleaning solution anywhere during the cleaning process. Even in the back of the sofa the light spray of upholstery mate soaked immediately into the fabric. The Ultra Shield was to have been applied only 9 months ago. Its suppose to have a life of the furniture warranty.

I guess applying any other protectent voids the Ultra Shield warranty so be aware of this with the end user.

    Hope this helps….

Ron: I’ve been reading this bulletin board for many years now. I have learned so many things that has helped me grow in person and in business. I am truly grateful for it.

It is obvious that humility is not one of your strong points.

    Cody & Company:

I agree completely with the afore-mentioned letters.

It was a great seminar filled with information and incredible generosity, which by the way I was very humbled by the ammont of generosity.

To those who did not attend (for whatever reason), you did miss out and should take note for the next meeting whenever that one is.

Thank you Cody and to all those responsible in large and small ways for an event that was truly a success.

Dave: Your local Chamber of Commerce sometimes has an updated listing of people moving into your community. Membership to the chamber is usually required. BNI groups are another (in my case) great way to get people talking about you. Again, membership is usually required to get information. In regards to those BNI groups, check out these groups before joining a particular group. 2 free meetings are accepted but after that membership will be required. Some cities have numerous groups meeting at various times of the day. Find one that suits your style and personality and schedule.

Good luck and remember to have fun!

    Dear Master Cleaner:

I’ve been doing this for just over 3 years now. In hind site would have done things differently. Brian Sutton’s example is the way to go. He includes protectent on every sale period… I would have followed his example.

I started my pricing out pretty low just hoping to break into the market. I cleaned a lot of dirty places for very low profit. Probably around the .10 per sq ft area.

But over time I have raised prices to now at .20 to .26 per sq ft and when I can sell the protectant for another .12 per sq ft. on top of regular price. (This is for residential areas. Commercial accounts go from .16 to .20 per sq ft.)

Each area has its own characteristics to deal with. What works for the Fargo/Moorhead area may not work for a franchise area in California.

You must decide where you want to be/working what customer level. Be patient with that decision.

Trust the info coming from Gordon. He’s pretty good at what he does.

    Best wishes to you!
