ParticipantI broke down in my last order and bought some logo related mugs, pens, and mints. The mints and pens are mainly for give-a-ways at the end of the job. Monday (11/27/06) a customer responed and said “truly good enough to be called Heaven’s Best.” (I’m sure she was refering to the mint and not just me personally). I bought the mugs primarly to give to the property managers for a Christmas present. They have all worked out quite well.

ParticipantI used a gallon of gasoline, and a hand granade!
Really I used the hair dryer and orange deoderizer to remove the glue residue. I than used the stainless steal cleaner. Looks great!hbottumwa
ParticipantWhen I looked in to an ozone machine 15 or so years ago, there was on it a warning that said “If this machine is not used properly it can result in causing cancer”. Or something to that effect. That was enough for me. I want to live long enough to enjoy my unborn grandchildren and children as well. There are two ways to use the ozone. (the right way and the wrong way, ha) They both create a mist, one water based, the other oil based. Oil based works better, until you have to clean and remove the oil. For these reasons I past on the ozone machine. I hope this helps.

ParticipantThanks Bryan.
The post came more as a question of the time. After reading the state owner newsletter and giving time a chance to take the present course, there’s really not the concern now as thought at first, when some operators and state owners had concerns- looking for the best direction to maintain the maximum attendance. Not to mention how to deal with operators with unruly attitudes. I’m glad time has greatly redused that.hbottumwa
ParticipantI like this.
A side from our pricing is our competetor’s pricing. The more you know the more life goes smooth. In my bidding for jobs I find I was loosing some of my bigger jobs and gettting almost all the smaller ones. It was a customer that filled me in on what was going on. My main competitor would discount 10% if the job was over $150 and 15% for over $300. I have found myself doing the same on people who ask for an estimate. If nothing else it’s something to concider.
I do like the subject. Thanks Brianhbottumwa
ParticipantI’m on it!

ParticipantI have found over the 24 1/2 years I’ve been cleaning, the book that will give you the best return is the book most used. Each area may have a different name but a less then the best book will give you less than the best results. Your job is to discover the best book and negotiate the best ad size and price for you and your area.

ParticipantOkay, I’ll weigh in here.
I live in a town consiting of 15k, 24k for County.
!. you can be top dog with only one van and have everyone know it.
2. I only put 8 – 10k miles on my van each year. Most jobs are with in 3-5 minites away. I currently have a “93” van that looks like new and only has 71.000 miles on it.
3. Major shopping from La Grande is 2hs. away so my wife doesn’t spend as much.
4. We are well known in the community.(everybody knows everybody) and your repution is what you will live or die by FAST. You go anywhere and people have ?’s and ask for a card to put on there fridge. Word of mouth is huge! I know my neighbors by name. Most of us have lived here more than ten years.
5. People are thoughtful and very friendly.
6. You are expected to be involved in your community.
7. Quality of life is important. I or my wife and children can walk anywhere and be save.
Conclusion: you can make it work where ever you live (over 20k). The most important ? to me is are you living where you want to live? doing what you want to you? I am and I’m content. To me making a lot of money wasn’t the key factor of where I wanted to live.hbottumwa
ParticipantI thought I would get a lot of rif for this…
First, More population isn’t always better.
Second, Here in northeastern Oregon my community is surrounded by national forest. Hunting, fishing, camping, places to park.
Third, God just lives down the street, and He said I couldn’t tell anymore. It’s a secret. He said if I told any more I might get sales tax.
Really looking forward to seeing you all in Vegas!

ParticipantRich,
How did FJ turn out for you? Are you still going to clean for them?hbottumwa
ParticipantGod blessed Texas after he spent most of His time enjoying Oregon! Couldn’t help it Jeff. As stated before… You could buy more than 100 acers in Oregon with zero sales, use tax or military retirement taxation.
