ParticipantIt is true about the crome wheels, It does make a difference. In the seminars I attend, I judge the best of the best vans. The best looking van gets the big “Mr Goodbar”. Second place gets two “Mr Goodbar”s and third place gets one “Mr Goodbar” In most cases the differance from first place and third place is the nice wheels. In Oregon like many places in America (including North, North America), the stock rims are reserved for the winter tread and the nice crome plated $1000. rims go on the spring, summer and fall tires. Just FYI. Life is Grand with a good looking Van!

ParticipantDave, Things are not always as they seem. I don’t think home depo will be helping much with operators ads. Even though Chem’s have a new owner the old one only shelled out 2% if they aproved the ad. They paid for it (the 2%) with the franchise fees at about three times the price of HB fees. When I was a chem’r it was very clear, that they cared about them 90+ % of the time. Don’t get me wrong. Chem Dry was a good company, but only looks at the francise owners as cash cows. From my experience, they don’t give a rip about the guy doing the work. Heaven’s Best has been a night to day company for me. I am greatful everyday I found Heaven’s Best. Sincerely, Thanks Cody!

ParticipantActually, My Service Master (distaster) friend charges $100-$200 per hour per per tec, plus amount of gallons removed.(that amount was not revelled) The big disaster area’s I have been glad to pass it on to him in the past for two main reasons.
1. Inconvenience: Drop everything and go like the house is on fire. They must be done now. It doesn’t matter if…
2. Billing can get ugly because often you have to deal with the insurance company in Timbuckto or where ever. Then they want a copy of all your certification papers…
Note: Many times the price is even higher because of the hasles of dealing with insurance companies and getting paid when ever.
I do feel the tool will be great for small areas expecially when it’s the customers paying and not the ins. companies.hbottumwa
ParticipantAbout the logo…
While I was renewing my phone book ad, I told the graphic artist that we have a logo change. She was quick to say she loved the old logo and couldn’t understand the change, when I pulled back my jacket and revelled my new under cover logo. (I felt like superman without the tights) She was quick to say, “oh, I like those even better”. It’s working! And so am I!hbottumwa
ParticipantBryan, the two minite demo looks great. Is it that good in real life? What does the big buger cost? Larger? smaller? Whould you recommend the larger (use feet) or smaller (hand held)? Do we need to purchase an adapter for the size difference in hoses?

ParticipantI find the upholstery mate great for what it’s for. Does anyone suggest we remove the urine soaked in the pad and the wood too? I love to clean carpets without pet problems. If they have allot of pet spots, do the best you can, or deside to pass. Treat and clean the carpet, drop kick the pad, treat the floor with kilz (open the windows, wear the mask), wait for the kilz to dry, replace pad with new one, if carpet can saved of course, and than restore carpet in place. Than drop kick the animal to the neighbors to do it’s job. (thats what my neighbors dogs and cats do). Isn’t life great?! Iam interested to see what the waterclaw can do. Thanks Bryan for that info.

ParticipantHey Holly, no problem. I was attempting to give you a rough time, and my good wife too. Don’t worry about me. I will go and do!

ParticipantHolly? Does it matter Blue or white shirt on blue or red back ground? For example does the blue shirt go with the red poster board or the white shirt need to go to the blue board? Can we use fabric material for the back ground? You know, for those sew’ers who are very “materialistic” oriented?

ParticipantI can’t say enough about the mints (727). My customers truly love them. I thought chocolate was womans best friend but these mints are at least a close second! My wife and two teenaged daughters love them so much I had to hide the second box in the van just to have them availible for my paying customers. Custumers who have had some ask me for more on the street corner and at the shopping center. I think selling mints might work out to be a good second income. Even the bank tellers try to adjust to wait on me to get the mint I’ll give away when making a deposit. I think by next week I’ll get head of the line privedges!

ParticipantI agree that having the customer pre-vacuum is a mistake, unless the job needs a shovel. Regaurdless plan on doing the vacuuming anyway. If a customer does happen to pre-vacuum, I ask if they would be affended if I vacuumed anyway? No one has ever been affended. However, almost everytime I thought I was in a hurry and did not vacuum, I wished I had. Their vacuum had missed allot and has cost me more time. Use the vacuum God has blessed you with.
As far as bidding, ask what the last guy charged and if they were pleased with the work?
I, like Brian, ask for protector to be applied. It elevates customer satisfaction to a whole new level, as well as making it easier to clean the next time needed. Hope this helps.hbottumwa
ParticipantI personally perfer a live body to answer the phone. As far as a message intro- they sure have distaste for telemarketers that is projecting negitivity. I might add, don’t get burnt by Burns carpet cleaning!

ParticipantIt’s been a while but when asked “when would you recommend a streamer over low misture cleaner?” When instead of a vacuum, you need a shovel. In most cases I would rather recommend replacement to using a steamer. No chance of mold and/or mildew to the backing. No bad vibes from an added bill to the cost of replacement. Now if they are just looking for the cheap, take the dust off the top cleaner, I respectfully request them to call another. If they want a quality cleaning at a fair price they called the right guy!
