Never heard of it but have used a dyson before. Talk about “suck”. That thing will suck the concrete off the bottom of the padding bro. A customer had the dyson mentioned above and I tried it out just out of curiousity and the damn thing almost ate the carpet. If there is a snag on the carpet or loose fibers; I would recommend to customers be careful of these dyson suckers. Sorry can’t help you on the pile brush issue.

FL18ParticipantWe usually “walk in” and ask for the owner or manager on duty or decision maker for maintenance of the hotel. 99% of the time, it has been the owner or manager, general manager. We tell them who we are, what we do, present the packet, point out recommendation letters and point out the free demo and special price on the first cleaning. Have confidence, don’t be nervous or they will pick up on that. Most will ask what we charge per room. Simply ask, “Can I see some of your rooms”. They will usually show you one room. Ask if they are all the same size, then you quickly find out that they have other rooms or suites that are typically double the size of a regular room. So you charge double the price. Simply give them a price range or tell them you will crunch some numbers and e-mail the qoute or drop it off. Don’t be in too much of a hurry on this, for it shows a sign of being desperate although you just want the job. Give yourself a good 3 or 4 days to think about it and come up with your pricing structure. Don’t ever sell yourself short. You will do better being thourough and thinking things through on what your worth. Hotels are easy to clean, for us anyway. Most have red-dye but don’t want to pay extra for the red dye removal. They just want them cleaned. It will most likely be high traffic only. We usually will pick up a few chairs and night stands. If they have good housekeepers, then the rooms will already be pre-vaccumed. I will call you in the morning around 9 am central time to discuss further. I got busy today with family and apoplogize for not calling today. I try to avoid business on the weekends sometimes, just to “get away”. Those veterans out there know what I mean. However, I have no problem with discussing this with you tomarrow morning. Hope all is well and will talk to you soon.

FL18ParticipantJust wanted to suggest San Antonio, TX and Austin, TX as choices for regional seminars.
FL18ParticipantJesse,
I did get your phone call the other day and will call you this weekend. Probably some time Saturday afternoon. Thanks for your call.

FL18ParticipantHit the streets, send out post cards, hit businesses up, offer free demos to the businesses with no obligation to clean, offer specials, hit up friends and family if they need cleaning. Do some networking. You should have an advertising manual from corporate. It is a little blue binder, or was when I went through training. From our experience, summer is slow for us. This is the case in warmer climates. South Texas is subtropical and our coldest day so far this fall has been 48 degrees. Today it’s around 50 something, cold front just moved in. Yesterday it was 86. Anyway, I get side tracked, In colder climates, I have heard it to be slower in the winter. Fellow HB people out there can reply to this and let you know.
Good Luck and God Bless
We’ll pray for your growth and success with Heaven’s Best. As I do for all Heaven’s Best operators and corporate as well.

FL18ParticipantI’m loving this tag line bulletin. Very funny and creative people out there. The “sh**” tag line is golden I tell you.
FL18ParticipantI like the Cali tag lines as well, but if used in South Texas, people would complain. I love em though.

Greg,
I feel my approach is by far the easiest and the most effective. When giving a quote, include protector in your price. When you get the oil changed in your van, do they ask “Would you like a new oil filter too?”. When you get new tires on your van, do you get an option of having them balanced?Lovin it
FL18ParticipantSutton hit it on the head. We don’t offer protectant in our prices but offer seperately. Brian has inspired to add it in. We include everthing else in our prices but not protectant. We charge $129 for three rooms and tell them what all they get, which is everything but protectant. I like the oil filter comment. My price is with no size limit. Somtimes bites us in the a**, but usually works to our advantage. We charge $10 a room usually but am considering increase as most of u have inspired me to do. 3 years ago, we charged $65 for 3 rooms, 😆 Now we charge that much for one.
Mike
FL18ParticipantI agree 100% and already fillied it out. It’s just another avenue to get the name out and what better way than to hear from the front line—us as owner/operators.
Mike
FL18ParticipantI use the bungees as well. Love the clip idea.

FL18Participant7-10% is a big bite. I have heard and read discussions about this service magic thing but have never signed up. I’ll pray things get better for you guys on this issue.

FL18ParticipantMy wife is for the “taking care of your piece of Heaven” tag and I am with the “We don’t cut corners, we clean them” tag. I think both are really good, but so many of them are. We decided to put the “we don’t cut corners” tag on our yellow page ad.

FL18ParticipantGood job LBurk. Very smart as well. We usually don’t do the cold calling. How well is that going or how well has that worked in the past. We usually load up with our ad packs, biz cards, etc and do face to face PR. Waste gas I guess, but works well on our side of things. Once you get the demo, you will get the job. Only once did we not get the job, he did not like the price. If could afford to pay somebody, I would do as you are. Great thinking and thanks for the info.
