CJonesParticipant
I have a Bachelor of Music Ed & a Master of Music degree & have taught music/percussion for over 20 years. Our first business venture started with two Subway franchises, then I bought & transformed a print shop into a “Mail & More” (ups, fed ex, etc). Currently my wife & I still work for the Kerrville ISD, I am the percussion specialist at the high school, and I am operating HB part-time. Plan to hit it big this summer & hire an assistant to run operations in the fall!! Hope to be full-time HB asap – but still enjoy teaching, the benefits, and being with my two kids soon to both be in High School – both percussionists (imagine that….) Getting lots of great referrals and building business slowly but steadily!!
CJonesParticipantThe best initial way into these neighborhoods is through some type of personal contact. These folks rely heavily on trust. If not through friends, then work through meeting people at chamber events etc. Personal contact however is really the only sure way in – at least in my own experience!
CJonesParticipantI have used this in especially “upscale” areas which have materialized into jobs – often though not until a month or two later! The last time I did this, I gave free Spotter Bottles with a business card to several neighbors as I introduced myself. I made sure I mentioned the neighbor’s name whom I was cleaning for that day & told them I would be happy to give them a free estimate. I often also find the names/addresses on the local appraisal district’s webpage and send a letter (Hey, maybe you noticed my van recently in your neighborhood, etc.), flyer, and card to surrounding houses later. I have had good results with these tactics in these types of neighborhoods!
CJonesParticipantI really have become a big fan of the Chevy Express – lots of room and runs great!
