7-10 pads? I want a machine that will wash 25+ at a time. I can stop by the laundry mat and for $4.oo wash as many as 30 pads using their soap and their hot water. While those pads are being washed I can go do another job. If the machine breaks down I don’t have to pay to have it fixed. Also, I’m not washing my families laundry in the same machine as 30 filthy pads. Just my 2 cents.

You are lucky as I have yet to find a laundromat in my area that has a machine with soap included that will wash 25+ pads and only charge me $4. In my area, a machine like that would cost at least $8+/wash and I would be providing the soap (and I haven’t been to one in 2+ yrs so it may be more now). Add to it that most of the laundromats I have used in my area I would not feel safe leaving my pads there unattended. I have a Maytag frontloader that I can safely wash 8-10 pads in (regular green turf, brown, or microfiber/woven turf), or more if I’m washing the thin white pads. I wish I had a larger commercial washer, but that is a large chunk of money I’m not willing to spend right now. In due time I would like to have a dedicated machine for work, but baby steps. I agree that I don’t always like washing my clothes in the same machine as my pads, but that said, it is a washing machine and it’s job is to clean clothes, and itself. Add to it that sometimes I think kids clothes are worse than anything my pads pick up! Being able to alter the cycles helps (pre-wash, soak, extra rinse, etc). I also buy the tablets that clean the machine and use those every so often. I haven’t ran the numbers lately, but I know I’m saving money by washing them at home between my time and water/soap/electricity/machine costs. What you currently have sounds like a great deal though.
I might be lucky. 50 lb. mega load washer costs me $3.90 per load, free soap. If I load the wash card with more than $40.00 I get a bonus of $4.00 and I get 1 free wash with every 12. Plus 2 locations that are far more convenient than running home.
We purchased a Maytag Neptune frontloader almost 10 years ago. It is exclusively for our HB business. We can put 7-10 pads per wash in it depending on the type of pad. Tide with bleach and and some Chlorox keeps pads looking great. The only repairs we’ve had are the rubber boot between the drum and the door. We average about 4 loads a day . . . with the highs and lows. I will probably buy another when this one dies.
I appreciate all the feed back about the washers. Not everyone’s situation is the same and what works well for one may not work as well for another, but the feed back helps each of us make the decision that will be the best for us, so thank you for your comments.
I have to say that I agree about not washing family clothes with all the nastiness that comes out of some of the houses I have cleaned if for no other reason then to avoid the pet hair. When we first started thats how it was, all in the same old top load. Then we upgraded to the meile, and atleast the pads started coming clean. But ultamatly i had to make a new laundry closet right off the garage that fits the washer and a deep sink, and that is perfect for us. Clothes get washed in the old top load upstairs. Pads in the front load down stairs. Sometimes life can be perfect. I haven’t looked into using a laundry mat mostly because i would hate to have to babysit pads sitting in the washer everyday, although I do like the idea of buying a laundry mat to serve as an office… hmmm let me check my walet i’m sure i have a couple grand kicking around here somewhere.. oh well maybe one day.
I use the front loader washer at the laundrymat. I don’t recommend a top loader it will off balance when spinning.
I still have the same machine I started out with over 8 years ago. A whirlpool duet front loader. I’ve replaced the computer board twice and the filter twice.
I bought a Maytag Maxima about a month ago and absolutly love it. Not only does it do a great job of washing, it will do up to 15 wooven turf pads per load. I believe it is a 5.2 cubic foot, the largest domestic I have found.
Around $1200. Any time you buy a new appliance, check into the rebates that are available from your electric or gas company.
