I have heard this for years about how everybody will be using the internet to find business’s, and not the yellow pages. But it seems to me that over the last year it has been happening more rapidly that ever. My Yellow page advertisements are dwindling in calls and my internet advertising is picking up especially with google and yahoo. I think that because of the social networking sites are growing so rapidly that it is driving more consumers to the internet. What are you seeing in your areas? Am I crazy or is this happening everywhere. Are you on the internet in google, yahoo and bing. Is there other sources on the internet like google and yahoo that you are seeing success from? If you are not on facebook with a business page why not it is a great way to bring your customers referrals front and center to prospective clients. Back in the olden days all they relied on was word of mouth to get customers until print advertising was created. Do you realize that we are shown over 3000 different advertisments a day from signs to vans to tv and internet. The Big shift is happening through internet and social media back to word of mouth. What do you think please comment?

    Spencer,
It is not your imagination, it really is happening very rapidly right now. That is why we are now offering a mini web page and the map option. Every one of our operators need to have an internet presence. We also need to have our internet presence uniform throughout the company. Social media is and will be huge.

The shift is well underway, just about every yellow page book in the country is in some form of bankruptcy and some major cities are trying to ban them completely for environmental reasons. I ask every new customer how they found me and 99% of the time it is either a customer referral or from the Internet.
