My city’s “Founder’s Day” fair is in mid October. The city is new, but is one of the fastest growing in the country and I feel that if I’m successful with this then I’ll have an advantage over the competition. I’m already one of the top sponsors of the event which gets me a space in the fair for free. I’d like to get some ideas from those of you who have had success with street fairs. Please post your experiences; do’s and don’ts.

I have not done a street fair but have participated in two separate indoor business fairs. One was last November, focused on women and holiday cooking, and the other was this spring,a general mix of businesses hawking their services. I had a banner I purchased from the company and had it displayed promenntly. I had brochures and cards I gave out as well as pens and magnets (only to adults). Kids got candy. Of course the freebies are a big hit. I also had a signup for a $25 gift certificate to the local grocery store. I had a lot of people sighn up and it will give you a data base to send more info in the future. My success was only fair, not worth the investment in time and money but yours may be very successful in your area.
