I am at my mom’s for the holidays and her small spotter bottle has black stuff floating in it that looks like mold. Anyone seen this before? It is about 4 years old and about 3/4 full. Bottle has been sitting in closet in laundry room off of garage on main floor. I don’t know if she accidently mixed something else in there to cause that but she said she didn’t. Strange. The other two bottles (1 large bottle, 1 small) are fine.

    This is my report…

I have never experienced mold like substance in any of are spotters. I have seen some dark almost black spots in the spotter bottle that had sat for along time. In investigating further, I learned it was the additional drop of deoderizer I had added to the spotter bottle that had seperated. (In this case just mix aggressively and your done.) At no other time have I experienced anything unuasual.

I have had black stringy stuff in new gallon containers of cleaner. John Steiner indicated it may be residue that remained in the large shipping container that the company recieves the product in. I sent Cody a sample quite some time ago but did not hear back. I wasn’t that concerned to follow up on it.

I found a spotter bottle (small) fill bottle and it had a white milky substance throughout…figured it was anaerobic and would die quickly during dilution/ cleaning….

I know that some little black pieces will eventually work themselves off the caps as far as the 2 1/2 gallon tanks are concerned. As far as the spotter bottles, I am not sure. I do know that water that sits long enough in anything can get just about any bacteria in it. A perfect example is protozoa. Sounds funny but my sons discovery science kit helped us grow some. We had to use dry grass and leaves though. I know I’m stretching a little here. I really don’t know on this one, concerning the spotter. It could be mold, or could be a couple dirt particles that got in once poured into bottle, or air blown, who knows. Hope you get the answer bro.

last month we had a customer call and said that there was black worm like stuff in her spotter bottle and asked if we could replace it for her. after we replaced it we took it home and poured it into a clear container and it looked like black clots of mold. Almost like black clouds, we took a picture and sent to Cody.

This sounds like something that needs to be dealt with ASAP. I too have seen this substance. I am going to talk to Cody today. I will let you know what I find out.
