    Greetings from the great Northland.

Once upon a time, as a farmer was walking through his field, he heard a terrible commotion and the mournful breying of his prize donkey. He ran toward the noise to see what had happened.

Unfortunately, his prize donkey had fallen into an abandonded well. The farmer frantically looked around to what he could use to get the donkey out of the well. All he had in the field was a pile of manuer and a shovel. The farmer had no way to lift the donkey out. The only thing he could do was to put the poor thing out of its misery, so he began to shovel crap on top of the donkey to give him a proper burial.

Eventually, the noise from the donkey in the well ceased.

With the last shovelful, the farmer sadly put down his shovel, removed his hat, and gazed one last time at the well. What happended next was a surprise. The farmer thought he saw the tips of two ears rising from the well. He rubbed his eyes and looked again. The ears were followed by a head, and soon the whole body of his prize donkey climbed out of the well. The donkey had climbed up out of the well by stepping up on the manuer that was constantly being tossed at him.

The moral of the story? When you feel like you are having a crappy day, you have a choice. Let it bury you, or you can climb out of the darkness into the sunshine, one step, one shovelful at a time.

May you find peace in your day and joy in your heart,
