I just cleaned a red wine area about 3 feet in diameter. The red dye remover worked quite well however, there’s a slight brownish stain left. Does red wine have tannin in it? Does anyone have any suggestions here?

I usually wont use the red dye remover on wine stains because wine is not really a dye its more of a stain. The red dye remover always seems to turn it sort of brown. For wine stains I usually mist the area with wood stain remover and apply a little heat and it usually takes it right out.

My previous customer called me and asked me if I can remove red wine stain. “Yes, we can”. (I’ve done it once and that was in my house with a good results :), which I didn’t tell her that). After arriving to her house and saw the stain, I didn’t know what to say for few seconds (I told my self, what I’ll do now 🙂 ). I asked her, have you try to clean it with something? Her respond was, yes. Someone told her, if you spill red wine clean it with a white wine, that’s what she did but the stain was still there so they used kitchen salt. (great, I’m on of front of big red wine, white wine and salt stain)
(what I’m gonna do now?). She said don’t worry, if you can’t clean it all the way they can turn rug around and where the stain is it will be under furniture. I said, I’ll try my best. Here is the pic. before and after.
What I did is, I tried to extract with hot water, after I saw that stain is getting better 🙂 I just keep on going, hot water and extract, until I was not getting anything out from that stain just plain water. But, there was still slightly brown stain. I grab the wood stain remover applied on the stain let it dwell for about 30 sec and extracted again. It came out great 🙂 .
After she saw it, she said omg, you did an excellent job, stain is gone.
It took me 2 hours and $60.00/hour. I did follow up next day with her, stain is gone.
Looks like, hot water and wood stain remover will do the trick 🙂 .

learn something new everry day! Coffee remover will also work on the brown leftovers. I think I learned that one from
the ‘wise one’ from Canada. Drying the area once all is taken care of helps as well.

Yes, Coffee remover is the strongest brown out we have. (2.5 PH) Orange Deodorizer is 5.5 PH. OD is not as strong but smells much better.

The other day I had a customer call to tell me about a red wine stain the size of a trash can lid, according to the customer. I arrived at the house knowing this was going to be a costly job based on what I was told over the phone. To my surprise, (more like amazement) however, there was no red in the red wine spill. When I inquired as to what they may have used I was told her husband used straight ammonia. The ammonia got rid of the red color and left a slight brownish tint to the stain area. We cleaned it up and gained a customer. Could you imagine the smell inside the home using straight ammonia?
