What is the strongest you all have mixed in with the 101. I cleaned a house with 6oz of o.d. in 2.5 gallons and the lady is saying she can taste it on her tongue. Got a call from her two days after the cleaning. Has anyone had this happen to them before and what did you do.
Just my opinion, but I think 6 oz is way too much unless you’re dealing with some severe pet odor problems. In normal circumstances, I like to use 1-2 oz. Just enough to deodorize but not overpowering. For the problem however . . . Final Step works pretty well to tame down the OD. It can be used full strenth or 1 to 1.
It was severe I recommended replacing the carpet or at least pulling it up and replacing pad. She didn’t want to do either. I used fresh scent and pet enzyme as well on the more severe spots. I will keep the final step in mind and if she wants me to come back and look at it I will report back. I have only had this happen one other time. I went back and didn’t smell any od on the couch that we cleaned I think that one was in her head.
The thing that I don’t understand is that she had two people tell her to clean the carpet and one of those people was a tile installer and he said the his guys won’t want to work with the smell or urine. She is also having a room mate move in and he was sneezing I guess. So go figure. I do need to call her and follow up with her though. I report back and hopefully all is well.
So here is the report I went there today to check it out. I couldn’t smell any orange deodorizer when I walked in. She then complained about the fresh scent smell and said the the orange deodorizer was gone. I flushed out some spots so that she would be happy just with water. Come to find out she watched her dad did from lung cancer and she is convinced that any chemical that gives off a smell will ultimately isn’t good for your lungs.
Are any of our products cancer causing.
I usually use 2 oz. in my tanks. It seems quite effective on the minor pet stains, and for general odors.
I keep a consentrated spray bottle on my spot try with 3-4 oz. mixed in.
I love the smell of OD and so does my customers. An ounce or two in the jug makes for a nice scent. However, there are some negative characteristics of the product.
#1) OD is a solvent that can damage carpet. (disolves the glue in the backing)
#2) OD is not water soluble (needs constant mixing)
#3) OD is not compatable with our disinfectant (creates a snot-like substance)
#4) OD is damaging to the seals in our pumps.I would like to see a safer, more user-friendly product.

I use 1to 2oz per 2.5 gal on most jobs. Jobs with odor problems use no more then 4oz.
isn’t orange deoderizer an oil? its not meant to be used straight. its an odor masking agent ,not a cure for the problem.
I believe OD masks it like others said more than it alters it. Fresh Scent supposedly alters the compositon to eliminate the odor.
