Ford has a new van out called the “Transit Connect”, it is supposed to get 25 mpg. I guess they have a diesel version in Europe that gets 40 but it would never pass emissions here in the states so Ford is only going to release the gasoline version. I am going to stop and take a look at one this week.

Looks to be smaller than our Ford E-150s. Space might be as important as mileage. We might sell one of the E-150s and purchase a smallish SUV of some type that may hold a buffer, sprayer, pads and chems and to be used for small jobs of for sales demos etc. Space in the 150 is good, and not too convinced that a Sprinter is the way to go either…at least not now, not here and in this economy.

    Greg,

Saw that a while back online, never seen one in person though. Intrigued me, but size inside would be my only concern. Probably not much difference size wise though than the Chevy Astro. I usually go to vehix.com and compare vehicles for size, but they’ve never listed the Transit. Let us know what you find.

I saw this new van in my Ford magazine a couple of weeks ago and if you can believe, they offer a GPS in the dash that tells you where all your tools and parts are in the back!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow is that getting bad or what?????????? (might be good for a plumber).

I saw one on a lot a few weeks back. It looked to be smaller than an astro, but taller. It also has sliding doors on both sides. I like the gas mileage that it offers. This would be a good fit for a second van, but I could not see using it as a primary van. I have all sizes of vans, and they get packed full of equipment. I always cary power stretcher, 2 fans, tool box, metal strips, tackstrips and enough products to do 8 jobs in the van. It can be done but it is tight.

Floor to ceiling height is good, better than the smaller GM vans. Floor space is a bit tight but I find a lot of unused space in the full sized GM/Ford vans so not perfect either. It is Euro made, been around for years over seas. Reliable easy to drive and coost effective to buy, own and drive. A little unusual looking which is not a bad thing.

I went on the website and checked it out. It looks pretty cool. This is the first time I have seen them market to carpet cleaning companies. In one of the pics they have a van that has all the carpet cleaning equipment and logos.

I went and test drove one today and it was kinda like a mini cooper meets sprinter, it really looks like a smaller version of the sprinter van. The cargo volum is 135 cubic feet and the payload weight limit is 1,600 pounds. It looks like it should hold all the basic equipment ok but if you do any water damage work you will run out of room fast. I am thinking of getting one when I am ready to add a 2nd truck. The overall ride was pretty nice, it just seems odd because it is so much smaller then my E150.

I may be the only one, but I think it looks weird, and not in a good way! We had a Ford Freestar that we tried to shove everything into when we first started, and it was TIGHT! The one of these new transits that I saw was SMALL. Can’t say I’d get on board with that.

I stopped by the dealership and took a look at one of these. It is really small inside . . . I wish there was an extened version of it. As it is, I think it’s just too small inside.

I’ve seen them also. I think it would work well as a managers van in a 2 van or more area.
    What’s the MPG?

We are not offering the logo package for the Ford Transit Connect van. The dry in 1 hour will not fit on the front fenders and like the sprinter van their is a lot of surface gaps that cannot be covered by the logos without major problems.
