I was talking to the carpet installer/stretcher/repair guy we use yesterday and he mentioned how he told a customer the latex glue used in most carpet is water soluble, which means it breaks down over time when in water. He said the customer didn’t believe him and he had her put a piece of carpet in water for a day. Low and behold, it pulled apart/delaminated easily when she pulled it out. She was amazed that this could happen, and he said that is just one of the many reason he refers us. Couldn’t find a great article to back this up, but this one mentions it.

Just a reminder as this is another arrow to put in your quiver when battling the soak & suckers, both commercially and residentially.
