I just recently started advertising again on the internet and have received 5 job over the past 2 months. I only advertise on the google map section if I were to put out some money I would probably get more hits. so I am looking at doing that when I can budget it in better. I am still confused about the adwords deal on a regular website.

February 22, 2011 at 12:55 pm #153785AnonymousInactivePhone book companies have finally wised up and started bundling internet advertising along with their print ads. The price I pay for my yellow page print ads also includes advertising on Yellowpages.com and Superpages.com. This is my first year with this strategy so I have yet to see substantial results. If I do not see a measuarable impact, I plan on dumping the print ads.
Also be aware that if/when you call your rep to cancel your ads you are in a great position to get a DRASTICALLY reduced renewal rate. I have heard of operators getting 50% off their listings to re-up for another year of print advertising. At 50% off it might be worth hanging in another year.

March 11, 2011 at 9:40 pm #153787AnonymousInactiveIs anyone using Supermedia.com in their area and using the pay per clicks advertising($99) per month for 25 clicks is what my area charges. If so what kind of return and service have you received? Thanks.
March 12, 2011 at 2:04 am #153788AnonymousInactiveI haven’t paid for any type of advertising since Dec. 2010. No yellow page ads, postcard mailing, Flyers, pay per click….nothing! What I did was making many Google Places listings within my area. I also hit the street and did alot of networking. BNI is a good start. As for Superpages…no way. Why pay for the lead, when you can get it for free.
Think about the process if you were looking for a carpet cleaning company? Where would you go if you are using a computer? You would most likly type in the Google search box “carpet cleaning” or carpet cleaning (your city name). Then you would look at the listings for Google places – first page, see who has the most reviews (5 stars), a good website link, and then call them.
The percentage who actually go through yellow pages and superpages is very low. Most are advertizers who will call you to sell you something. Your clicks will be wasted on them.
Best bet, work on that Google places listing. Build it and get listed on the first page. Then get a UPS mail box, NOT a PO Box, in another town and make a Google Places account for that one. Build it to the first page. Then so on…to the next town.
Need reviews, have friends and family write them.
What is it going to cost you….time, time, time. Not a lot of wasted money.

March 16, 2011 at 12:31 am #153790AnonymousInactiveI am a new operator and have some insight into “yellow page” advertising. I actually used to work for one of them and there is a reason they now say “beyond yellow”! They know that the print directories are on the decline and there approach is now bundling the print yellow pages advertising, online yellow page directories, and they want to build you a website. There is a much better online directory that we have all heard of called GOOGLE. [The yellow page] websites are an absolute disservice to the customer. They are poorly built, lack a professional look, and lack content.
I had a website built recently and it is attracting new customers already. I have not renewed any yellow page ads but kept my listing. I have built a facebook page for my business and ask every customer when done cleaning to post on their facebook pages how excited they are to have their carpets cleaned by Heaven’s Best. It does work. I have also partnered with a local home cleaning business who refers me because of their natural cleaning processes. I pay them 10% for successful referrals. This cleaning business has over 1500 fans on their facebook page and I have gotten 14 jobs since December from them.
I am just getting started in a new area so any suggestions on making an impact would be helpful.
March 16, 2011 at 10:21 pm #153791AnonymousInactiveWell Told them I was dropping out all together, they opted to give me the best add in the book for half the price with all internet. I said ok for this year but would drop out next year if it doesn’t pay for itself so I will see they said they would track it for me too and let me know about the progress during the year so we will see.

Make sure:
– That you have actually cleaned for them.
– They live in your area
– They don’t use the same computer
– They don’t leave a review all in one day, weekMarch 31, 2011 at 10:20 pm #153794VA31ParticipantSupermedia.com – I’ve seen their prices, but never looked into it.
AdWords (aka PPC or Pay Per Click) on a regular website – There is a lot to learn here. But the basic idea is, you sign up with google. Then you create a small ad. They approve the ad. Then it is published. Every time some one clicks your ad, you are charged. The person with the highest bid shows up first, then the second highest bid is second, and so on.

July 28, 2011 at 2:16 am #153796AnonymousInactiveDoes anyone hear of CleaningConnect.com or have any experience with them? They charge $59.00 yearly membership and keep sending you leads where you can or you don’t have to accept the lead. Prices are from $20.00 – $75.00/lead.
Thinking about it.
