Yesterday my Nobles buffer quit. I checked everything and still nothing…I then checked where the black cord comes out of the handle and connects to the main body..played with it and it worked, loose connection, good to go. Then, where the black wire connects to the body started, it sparking and smoking and the buffer was defenitely done. (Yes I have a back up buffer!).
Has this or anything like this ever happened to anyone else? Is there a remedy?

I had this happen recently. Sparks from wires. Turns out I had a very small cut on the main black wire/cord right where it enters the motor housing at that black grommet (same spot as you I think) and the bare wires touched. Took it to a friend that is very handy and he took it apart and fixed the wires (i’m not good with electricity and he is unemployed, worked great for both). He fixed the wires/cord and it works great now.

Thanks for the input….seems like anything that could/has/will happen to any operator has happened to you!

I have had the cord on my noble buffer short out 4-6 inches from the strain relief several times. I’ve gotten very efficient at making the repair. the cord gets 12- 15 inches shorter every time. Must be a bad cord. I just keep in mind if the buffer seems to have a unexpected slight surge now and then to it it usually is time to make a field repair.

If you’ve been doing this for a while (and you have an employee), you will experience a lot of stuff that keeps you on your toes. Everyday is a new experience.
