Heard this idea the other day and may try it. Go thru phonebook and call every carpet cleaner. If the number is disconnected or no longer in service, contact the phone company about buying that number for about 6 months and have it forward to your existing number. Probably cost $40-$50/month. Chance you may get some jobs from it. Anyway, just something to consider as companies seem to come and go and leave prior customers “hanging”. Probably best to try when the new phonebook hits.
Another angle to that is web site addresses. So for example, http://www.denvercarpetcleaning.com/net/biz/org. bestcarpetcleaningdenver.com etc. you can also take mis-spelled web sites of competitors etc. the cost is very low and you simply re direct the site to your site.
