City Owner Newsletter December 2019

Happy December, Heavens Best Team!

Hello team,

We hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and everybody traveled safely to see their family and friends and made it back home safely. At this time of year, we would ask all of you to be very diligent in your traveling to and from the different jobs as we’ve had some very strong storms come across the United States.

We are trying to communicate with you all more than probably ever before. We are trying to keep you informed on different matters with the franchise and hopefully, everybody is receiving the emails that are being sent out. We are having an end-of-the-year discount/sale on a few items. It looks like a lot of these emails are not being opened, and it makes it very hard for us to communicate when people don’t open their emails. Other than the lengthy newsletter, these emails try to be short and concise, and should not take very long to read.

We have asked you all to look at your information on the corporate website under locations and also your account as there are some of you out there that the information is incorrect especially your website URL that is listed on the corporate website.

“Dear California Franchise Owners,
I hope everyone is doing well and getting busier with the change of weather. Google has a new advertising campaign that is called Google Local Service Ads, which is pay per call instead of pay per click. Google does a free background check and verifies each business insurance and license. This new service is getting greater exposure and pops up on the side advertising the business that is Google Certified. Their contact number is 1-833-272-1444. You can also access it online, but it is easier to let a representative walk you through it.
An advantage of this service is you can narrow the exposure to a specific area, so that you are not paying for leads outside your area. Plan on setting your budget high, for example, mine is set at $400 per week. I only paid $66.00 my first week and was able to book 6 jobs. You will have an app on your phone that you will be able to monitor it daily. My son in Long Beach had his budget set at $700 per week, but only used 25% of his budget and was able to book the majority of the leads. There is an advantage to setting the budget high to get the most exposure, but you can decrease the budget at anytime”

We have sent out some emails asking folks about topics for seminars, and also for promotional items that you would like to see on the store that you can give out to customers and so forth, and have gotten very minimal response. These things are for you all out there and it would be greatly appreciated to take a couple of minutes out of your day to respond to some of these emails so we can help you in these areas especially from a training standpoint.

A friendly reminder on the $5000.00 referral fee for anyone out there that refers someone that buys a new Territory. I feel strongly that when we do get leads from you all, it’s from a person that knows about our business from talking with you, and/or has had their carpets cleaned by one of you, and is excited about this type of opportunity and the cleaning that they experienced. We have put in the past several months of newsletters that we would highly encourage you to explore the Google Local Service Ads opportunity. Everyone that Dan Child and I have talked to is having great success with this program. There are franchisees out there that are actually switching over to this program, versus the Google Ad Words campaigns that they have had.

Something else to consider, as it is getting to the end of the year, is upgrading your equipment or buying additional supplies to offset your tax obligation before December 31. There have been multiple emails sent out on some items that we are discounting at a great price.

Speaking about upgrading equipment, we do not see the woven turf pads purchased probably as much as they should be. As you all know, the older the pads are, the less agitation you’re going to get, and the less absorbency that you’re going to get as well. With wintertime here, you should be thinking about your drying times as well – and that’s where replacing your old pads with new pads will allow you to maximize not only the agitation, but your drying times will be reduced as well.

WE ARE ALSO DOING A END OF YEAR SPECIAL TO HELP OUT ON PADS! Check the Shipping Update or more information.

2020 Seminars

Coming up in the first part of the year, we are going to start doing regional seminars. We have a couple of them already arranged; one in North Carolina on February 7th, and one in Nebraska on March 20th.
We are also looking at doing one in the Denver, Dallas, Portland, Atlanta, and Rexburg area. These seminars are for you to learn and to ask questions from us and the operators that will be there.
I have previously asked in the newsletter for you to send in what you want us to go over, so once again, please send your requests or comments to me at john@heavensbest.com

John’s Fix-it Corner

Another year has come to a close, and for me it has gone by fast.  December is a time where we usually stop for a minute and give thanks for all we have. It’s a good month to look around us to see if there is someone in need that could use our help. It is also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the birth of Christ.

I have just a few things that I thought might help you. When you’re putting down Fabric Protector, figure out your square footage so you know how much to put down. Remember that one gallon will do about 2000 sq. ft., and it costs you about 2.3 cents per sq. ft. to put down. I’m telling you all of this so you can be fair with your customers and they will get what they paid for. Also, this will prevent you from putting too much down and losing money.

Do not leave Fabric Protector in your sprayer. Over time it will clog up your sprayer. Use the right amount for the job. When you are done, turn it upside down and spray air through it so it will get the protector out of the tube and nozzle.

I have had quite a few calls lately about Brown Out and how to take care of it. Take some Orange Deodorizer and mix it with water about 1:10 and spray on Brown Out. Work it in and suck out the excess moisture.

I also have talked to a few operators that have been in business for 2 or 3 years and have not changed the beater bar in their Hoover. The bristles wear down and they don’t clean as well. Changing this one thing could speed up your cleaning time.

I hope these ideas will help you be more productive.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

NOTE: Question: Why was Santa’s little helper depressed?

Because he had low elf esteem.
