Va06Participant
Jeremy, your right about loosing your scheldule book. I’ve had a couple close calls too! Terrifying at minimum. For most of us it’s our working life line. Would love to find some sort of electronic scheduling system but, I would likely forget that in my golf bag. As far as duplicate invoices. I too leave the original and keep the copy (have six years worth boxed in the garage).
Never had a property manager nor customer dispute the charges. Some just write bad checks or, exceed their credit limit. 99% of the time it gets resolved amicably. And, for the most part, the sums are too small to waste time contesting in court. However, your point about keeping the original (with signature is a good valid point). I think, just in case, we should all consider keeping the originals if thats still possible.
See ya in vegas!
Va06ParticipantGary,
Thats true. Rates can be considerably lower during the weekdays. I grew up in Vegas. However, during the winter months, if you book early, good rates can be had. I think the mind set is travel time for people coming from afar… Do business during the week so we all have the weekend to enjoy and/or get back home. Just a thought…. see you there.
Va06ParticipantWow, I’ve got to get one of those rakes. If nothing else, it will keep my helper busy while I’m cleaning berber, instead of watching me buff.
Va06ParticipantI know this might be a little too late to help but, it’s true… the carpet does look better the next day when fully dried… especially when you’ve added QB along with Citrus Boost to #101. And, even more so with pile carpets.
Va06ParticipantI have asked the same question! Not sure why mid week is the choice.
Va06ParticipantRegarding carpet: There seems to be no cure for this type of stain. However, on hard surface I heard if you place a bleached and water, soaked towel over the spot and leave it overnight, this helps remove the yellowing, sometimes completely. Also, word of advise; the stain is a result of the rubber backing breaking down from contact with trapped moisture between rug and surface. The moisture causes the glues to breakdown in the rubber and tranfer onto the surface, thus leaving the yellow stain. I always suggest using only 100% latex backing area rugs. There not suppose to break down and cause this problem. Hope this helps!
Va06ParticipantAmmon, thats exactly right! Insurance is a business for profit. Everyone needs to apply, especially the healthy in order for a group plan to work. We should continue as a group, state or nationwide to find a health insurance carrier willing to work with H.B.
Va06ParticipantMatt, one more thing, I’ve seen a few customers ruin their carpets using oxy clean by completely removing the stain and fiber color, or causing super clean spots. Be very careful. Don’t let their problem become yours!
Va06ParticipantMatt, I’ve heard about simular success using oxy-clean, some of the maintanance workers use it on apartment properties that I service, and report good results. It’s something about the oxinization and chemical response. However, if its in a corner or somewhere not highly visible I would do a “patch”, or suggest dying the spot. Hope this helps.
Va06ParticipantSpent my early years working for a restuarant chian as a bar tender, finally heard too many bad jokes and went back to school. Received accociates in criminolgy. Spent 5 years working as a family law paralegal, way too much drama… then in the life and health insurance industry for a few more years before reading about H. B. in the business section of the L. A. Times ( an advertisement from our state owner, Dan Child) It hit me in the face so hard it left a mark, though you can hardly tell. Now, I’m finally a carpet cleaner. My wife was not crazy at first, in fact, I wish I’d taken pictures of her expressions when I was telling her about my first conversation with Dan. She is doing just fine now!
Va06ParticipantMike, I got into tile and grout cleaning about a year ago, not because I wanted to, because my existing customers were requesting the service. I’ve had no regret thus far. In fact, I just booked a natural stone and grout cleaning/sealing job today after cleaning a “new” customers carpet. I estimate the time to clean and seal will take approximately 3 hours, 500 sq. ft. total. Clean one day and return the next to seal. The price, $500.00. And, I’m giving her a great price at that! The down side, it really takes two people for this type of cleaning, one to scrub, one to rinse, etc… all in all, it a good service to add to your business. Hope this helps.
Va06ParticipantI’ve sealed Micro fiber after cleaning using solvent based H.B. Fab protector and had no problems. Use your horse hair brush to smooth the fiber, and allow some time for normal drying, maybe 30 minutes if your schedule permits, prior to applying. Hope this helps.
Va06ParticipantThanks Tyler. Regarding the “mug”, oh yeah, I remember now. It was back when I was attending training, March 2000; caught up in a high speed chase with the local authorities, using one of Cody’s loaner vans, through the wild streets or Rexburg. Got thirsty, so I stopped at the local Rite Aid for some soda’s and they nailed me!
Va06ParticipantWho ever posted my picture, thanks. I was just getting ready to shower.
Va06ParticipantYou have to keep us updated on this! How many hours in 1 day will they allow you to work, and what time/day? Your price is very competative (.10 sq.ft.) Also, I agree with “blowenthal”, 1 man per 1000 sq.ft., give or take, at almost 100,000 sq.ft. would require 10 workers around 10 hours to complete, duh, given you have 10 buffers, sprayers, etc… if you get the account, I’m sure you’ve already consider the neccesities. Let me know if you need some help! Good luck Bret.
