In my area we are charging $20-30 a room without moving any of the furniture.

    Ron,
I love your thinking! I couldn’t agree with you more in the fact that we need more than just one finance/lease company on board. Please, please, please let us know what you find out on this other company ASAP. I have a potential franchisee who claims his credit is in the mid 600’s, (less than stellar) so I’m interested to see how he may rate in the “business loan/lease” world. I gave him Larry Elton’s info at Advantage Leasing to see how he could fair, but I would love to be able to offer him another option if that doesn’t work out.

Good question. I would say no, but I’m unsure. The lender would be chasing the franchisee for money. I would imagine that these types of loans/leases are what most lenders consider a “Blue sky” loans where there is no collateral involved(which can mean higher interest rates). Hey Ron, can you answer Bryan’s question?

Thanks Ron. I agree with you 100%. I realized after posting my thought that it would most likely be harder for perspective franchisees to get financed through a bank/financing co./etc. than it would be through a state owner. That should mean a “higher quality” individual. If we could align ourselves with a few different finance/lease companies and put together a franchise purchase, van, and possibly even a little start up capitol into one financed package….. It could be a huge tool in selling franchises. Plus, as state owners, no more carrying the note and risking not getting paid. Can you share the info on this lease company that you are currently working with?

    Baden,
Congrats on the spot. That’s a large spot to be dying. I would’ve taken all $700. I usually don’t dye spots that large. I usually will go up to the size of a salad plate because it becomes difficult to get an even application and look on anything larger. I would have most likely cut in a patch.
    Ed,
If a stain is darker than the color of the carpet it typically cannot be spot dyed. You can bleach them, however, I find that a lot of times that damages the fibers and can be difficult to neutralize the bleach.

I like that idea of pushing them to sign up at the seminar too. Strike while the irons hot.

Is anyone out there currently cleaning for a national hotel chain? If so please contact me.

Evan, I’m going into the hotel and trying to speak with the manager. If I don’t get that opportunity then I’m leaving the packet with the front desk.
Daniel, I don’t know of any national hotel chains that Heaven’s Best is currently working with. I know there has been some contact as far as Heaven’s Best discounts when staying at a few hotels. I will talk with corporate and research what it would take to start that dialogue with a national chain in regards to cleaning. I’m charging $20-30 per room with a minimum of 5-8 rooms. Great idea.

    Bryan,
I think franchises need to be better informed of what membership will bring and how it will help grow their business. If we can show them these two things, asking them to sign up shouldn’t be a problem. The one thing we can’t afford to do is start demanding franchises to do something that they don’t want to. I don’t think a vote is a good idea because, like you mentioned, what happens to the percentage of people who vote no?
Another approach would be to pitch it this way: ” It’s only $40. If it doesn’t produce for you than don’t renew your membership the following year. “
    Just my two cents worth.

    Ron,
As far as I know corporate has not changed the date. That was what I suggested. After reading Bryan’s and your posts I agree with what you two have said regarding this topic. I only have one operator who has not changed over as well.

    Mr Ferris,
I agree with you in that each state owner should be allowed to do what they want in their state. We all bought the rights to our state which should allow us to do as we please, within the boundaries of our contracts of course. Again, I personally will not be soliciting my operators customers as I feel it is inappropriate.
I do, however, like what Laura has suggested. That way no one feels like they are being solicited.

Ron, thank you for smoothing the waters.
Gordon, I was simply throwing food for thought out there. I’m not a negative person and I resent that comment. I am a state owner and an operator. I look at things from both sides of the issue. I take these ideas that get brought up very seriously.

Dennis Scriba had the idea of advertising “own a franchise for $390 a month”. Thats a great idea.

Maybe something we should do in an effort to sell franchises would be to put a stronger emphasis on financing a franchise. Show the $14,450. as a “start up” price.
