tx45Participant
Mike,
I use United Bank Card(the company set up through corporate) and have been very happy. I too have a wirless unit but I didnt have to pay a cent for it. they gave me the machine for free. I accept all four major credit cards-visa, am ex, discover, MC. and only pay $20 a month plus whatever processing fees. Usually those fees run around $20-$40 a month. hope this helps.tx45ParticipantMy vote would be somewhere located in the middle of where most of the state owners live. It’s my understand that most live over in the western half of the country so I would say somwhere in the west – sorry Ron(Florida) but thats the price you pay for year round sunshine. 8)
tx45ParticipantPost up and join the party! Say something, anything. The more people we get interacting here the better.
tx45ParticipantMerry Christmas to you too Mike! Have a Happy New Year! That goes out to all of the HB peeps out there!!!
tx45ParticipantMerry Christmas, and a Happy New Year to all. Looking forward to seeing all of you in Vegas! Hey DB dont hit the nog too hard this holiday season-save some for me.
tx45ParticipantRon,
Rental properties. Lets say an average three bedroom house w/ 800sqft. of carpet. The property owner calls me in to do a turn over clean and when I get there -it’s like Gordon said, a shovel wouldn’t cut it but there is no way the owner is going to drop $1500 on replacing the rentals carpets. I explain to the owner that it’s going to be a full restoration and could be somewhat expensive(as a rule if its going to cost more than a third of the replacement cost I recommend replacement) I call in my truck mount guy, he sucks out the big chunks(for about $100-120), I go in and do any specialty work-stains, repairs, etc. which also allows me to inspect the work he did. The truck mount guy bills me. I mark up his bill plus add on any work I did and submit that to the owner. Then I recommend to the owner to set his new tenants up on a biannual or at the very least an annual maintainance program so it will keep the carpets in good condition and it allow me to report to the him on how well the tenants are taking care of the carpet. Not only did I get the job, I now have a repeat customer and I earned alot of money without using a lot of product. Most of the time property owners would rather spend $300-400 on a restoration than pull $1500 out of there pockets. You can pretty much do the same thing with residential customers as well.tx45ParticipantMike- Smoked for 14 years. I’m 11 months without a drag. Surprisingly the cravings went away pretty quick. Set the date-Good luck.
tx45ParticipantIts a good idea to be-friend a truck mount cleaner so you can refer the really bad jobs and floods to him . Make sure he’s not the best truck-mount cleaner in town. I think its better to refer someone who’s quality is good but not better than your own. That only makes you look better. Also make sure his prices are fair. I use the same guy and we have an agreement that any job he does for me will be billed through my company. In other words he’s a sub for me. I keep the customer. His quality is good but his carpets are sometimes wet for a day. I explain to customers that unfortunatly their carpets will have to be cleaned that way because of the amount of soil, but that we will put them on a maintainance program that will keep their carpets in good condition and so they won’t have to go through the soaking wet process again. It’s been working out really well.
tx45ParticipantI second(or is it Third ) That?!
tx45ParticipantDan,
I believe for someone to attend just the banquet is $50.tx45ParticipantI agree with Dennis. No one can afford not to go. The biggest problem is that not everyone knows exactly what’s going to go on there. What I know so far is there is going to be a wealth of knowledge available at this seminar. There is going to be technical training that ,by itself, could increase your business, in a couple of months, far more than the expense required to attend. I think everyone will re-evaluate attending when they see whats going to be offered. I lust hope they get us that info soon.
tx45ParticipantRon, Let me clarify. Cody didn’t use those exact words. Our discussion was informal. What I typed should not be considerd a quote from Cody and I’m sorry if it was misleading. Again this is why we have our own meetings and secure message board so operators don’t hear all of our discussions. To be more analitical of Cody’s comment regarding the attendance at the seminar, I think what was meant was more along the lines of those operators who are going to be at this seminar are the ones willing to take a short term financial loss in exchange for knowlegde and training that will immediatly and in the long term improve their business. More my words again but I think that is closer to what was meant.
On another note Dennis(dirtbag) and I talked today for quite some time on the phone about the registration fee. This is some of what we came up with.
We need an agenda of what is going to take place at this seminar ASAP. We need to be able to show our operators that there is going to be so much training and knowledge at this seminar that $120 is a drop in the bucket compared to what they’d spend trying to get it on their own. At first I was upset by the fee, but now I understand the value in it. I do, however, think the price should have been discussed with us state owners before being posted in the newslatter, so we could have been better prepared to deal with our operators.tx45ParticipantI spoke with Cody yeaterday about this and he informed me that there is just no other way. Corporate has already absorbed significant costs in putting this seminar on (van and equipment giveaways, room rentals, etc.)
I only wish we would have known sooner that it was going to be so expensive. I am going to offer to pay half of the registration fee to each one of my operators. I’m still very excited about this seminar and hope that it will be something that we all will learn from. Cody did make a good point when he said only the top operators and the people who are trully commited to this company will attend this seminar. I for the most part agree, however, If it was a little more affordable I think some of the newer operators would be attending as well.tx45ParticipantLovin the new home!
tx45ParticipantOH NO!!! Another crazy Canadian!!! If you’re anything like the “Dirtbag” you’ll be welcomed with open arms. If you’re not, well then you’d better get your Canadian geese in a row (ask Dennis). Welcome to the family.
