I used the dirt napper a lot when I first started, now I rarely do. Part of the reason is what you described with the fuzzies, I don’t want the customer thinking I am tearing apart their carpet. If I need something more aggressive I will use the BBC. If I am on a job where the customer isn’t there then I will use the dirt napper if need be. I personally think it’s a bit overrated, and the right combo of products/dwell time will do just as good with other pads.
Tn02ParticipantThanks Justin, this is something I was also concerned about.
Tn02ParticipantThanks, Gordon. Due to the dimensions of the book I had to switch to a dollar sized ad, as opposed to the one I had up earlier.
South Phoenix is in Florida, that’s where I have my vacation homes and my yacht 😆
Tn02ParticipantYeah, just having some fun.
Tn02ParticipantReally? Cause I copied it from a south Phoenix phone book. Where are you located again?
Thanks 😀

One of the other carpet cleaners in our area does this. So far I have 3 of his signs in my garage.
AHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man, that’s hilarious.
Tn02ParticipantI’d be curious to know where he got that number, sounds like something a one pass wand dragger would charge. I haven’t done any theaters, but I would imagine they are pretty dirty. It all depends on how dirty it is. Like someone else said, calculate the time it will take you and base your bid on that.
Tn02ParticipantIt seems like most people have had good experiences with the yellow pages, I have not. I would call some local businesses and ask them how their ad has worked out for them before you do anything. Not every area is the same.
Tn02ParticipantBecause he is cheaper. I’m surprised their minimum is only $30, that’s lower than anything I have ever seen. They probably do a lot of bait and switch, or additional charges. What does your ad look like? Put in your ad “absolutely no hidden charges” or something to that effect.
Tn02ParticipantI have had better results with the BBC than the dirt napper. I think in my experiences the dirt napper brush has been too stiff. Also FAE as always on traffic areas, I find myself using it more on berber than any other kind of carpet.
Tn02ParticipantI used them both this week. The fresh scent to deoderize pet stains and the customer didn’t like the smell of it, so I went back and canceled it out with the final step:)
Tn02ParticipantI cleaned for a lady last week and after I was done she told me chem dry quoted her $700. I quoted her $300. The job took me about 2 hours, I don’t know how they get away with it.
Tn02ParticipantPerfect timing. I’m visiting a complex tomorrow and I made my own, your’s looks much better. Thanks!
Tn02ParticipantI’m hand delivering them to property managers that I mailed the letter to, but I would imagine you could skip the letter step and just visit complexes with the packets and it would work well.
Tn02ParticipantI have already had 3 complexes call me and I sent them out on Friday of last week. I visited one this morning and I landed the job. I’m visiting another tomorrow morning. I will also be doing follow up calls.
I threw these together for about $1 each. I put all my letters of recommendation, bid, and before and after pics inside.
