Fires???? I would be more concerned about the wax rehardening in the hose and then into the tank or Ninja reservoir.

Some 2 years or so ago, I emailed a distant cousin of mine, Ed Mockford PhD. He is an entomologist of some distinction. I asked him via email regarding the possibility of cleaning for dust mites. He shared that in his home in Illinois…he looked and searched everywhere and found zero.

His feeling was that it was a lot of hype….we never pursued it for the same reasons stated above….there is so much carpet to clean, why be a Don Quixote?

If anyone is interested in an extraordinary life, you might Google Edward L. Mockford. One of a vanishing breed…kind of like a nerdish Indiana Jones with regard to lice. One of the world’s authorities….

(I almost went to grad school to work with him in 1976…but I had to go to Pakistan and Kashmir, India at the time.)

In our opinion, the best course of action is to change systems to the bag. It eliminates the puffs of stuff to atmosphere, the mess and any problem. Can also offer a higher degree of filtration with the proper bag. Regular bags are incredibly cheap (the better ones are more expensive).

Enough people have seen the Oreck demo on TV of the cup emptying, to be turned off. Terrible system and has little use in anyone’s home. We never broke any clips, but I did bump the cup once and broke the seal…cup fell and I thanked the Lord for not being seen and aboe to clean fast…not a problem now.

    Just an opinion..

I have a really dumb question…about return on our money…from advertising.

I have read where some are happy to have advertising pay for itself and are happy, others, so many calls per so much money spent…

I guess I am from the old school…it seems to me that for every dollar spent should return about $10. Am I nuts? Is that realistic? Cody ask us each month for our advertising dollars spent and our gross.

For anyone, and probably Cody can answer better than anyone else…What is the average ratio for our operators and what should we be trying to get to as a goal?

I guess that it is the true measure if our advertising is really working…is it meeting our goal? And what should that goal be?

    Just a dumb question…

    From an old guy.

I am happy to actually see our name there after some 10 months or thereabouts, even if they left out the apostrophe or other information

Or wet steam … but steam is invisible…different natures to it for sure.

    Not really…

But youy are right, in a way.

steam is actually invisible, and the cloudy stuff that you see after it cools a tad is water vapor. When a tea kettle is boiling and whistling, the water coming directly out of the kettle is steam (something invisible) and the stuff you see some mm later is water vapor.

You are right to a degree, it is temperature dependent, upon the boiling point of water and the pressures involved. In any event though the vapor you can see is water vapor and steam is not visible as in the description above.

I declined a job and they told me that they would not continue using me… I said ok…

Maybe markets are different for them…

My number one reason is my reason for terminating Guardsman…is listed above. Anyone that tells me that I must do a job for them, or be terminated will not have me working for them any longer. Especially cleaning blood and whatever all over the place in a slum area of our town…for $80, on the 4th floor. No thanks.

We do not do that work here…

Just my 2 cents worth of experience with Guardsman.

    Dennis,

All good points…however, my wife and I did travel the 3hrs to DC to observe/shadow/help Jim Dickey on a couple of Sat morning jobs on my birthday in 2005. Doing our due diligence.

As far as the investment is concerned, 2 Ford E-150s and 2 packages and the territory charge all total come to something way north of $50k….and $4200 is still a lot of money…. And our Ninja is beginning to have some problems after 5 years…literally falling apart. Light use only…

So, it may / may not fit for us. We will try the new cleaner and see if it works better than the old…we have a job coming up in December to use it on…

Thanks Cody, for your comments…well put.

    You know Matt…

Every cloud has a silver lining…

I just got to thinking. No steam cleaner uses steam at all….however, if we pre-treated with steam from a shark or whatever steam cleaning unit, lightly used it on the carpeting, leaving very little moisture in the carpet, then spray with the 101 as normal….we just might help loosen soil, goop and gap and and also sanitizing by using steam and then clean with our regular process. VOILA!!!! We would then be steam, low moisture carpet cleaners with a twist or two.

A little more time involved, but might be very effective. Worht an experiment or two perhaps.

    Very interesting possibility….ok, maybe a dumb idea…

    Just my 2 cents…

I would like to know if the attachment would fit the Ninja we already own? It has a lower psi, however, is it possible to work?

My first visit to a Mongolian Bar B Que was in 1971 in Okinawa…the last one was yesterday in Reading, PA.. That being said, my very first cleaning of any kind was a Chinese restaurant in Shrewsbury, PA and it was a disaster.

First off, the grease and oils are tracked everywhere, 2nd they nearly ruined my first inventory of pads and 3…they would not want to have cleaned more often than they wanted.

Stay clear…you have been warned by me. I guess there could be exceptions, but I think I would live ok without cleaning another restaurant.

    Just not worth the hassle.

I do clean tile for a Mexican restaurant, bar and dining areas not even close to the kitchen…We do for a trade…3 hrs for 425…one high class restaurant as well.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Caution

    Dave
