ParticipantI stand corrected..I would have thought that SS and CD would have their own in-house staff create the site and then subsequently update and maintain as required.
Sorry for the miscue or misunderstaanding. It just looks like a homemade job, that is all I really meant. Not at all at the same professional level at all, like many that I have seen locally created by website developers.
It has lots of great potential though.

ParticipantKeeping fingers crossed and hoping for the best is not very comforting…
This may be one of the very few websites, other than homemade, that does not have the credit given on the bottom of the pages for the designer’s company name. They always put it there for credit and to show off to prospective clients… Kind of like an artist signing their work.

ParticipantI hope all of the new operators read this..we never heard it in class. The pads are almost impossible to clean as well. The one saving grace is that the managers loved the results. I guess the HWE guys do a terrible job.
With all of that …thanks to all and Amen.

ParticipantSomething to consider Jeremy…i closed approximately 97-98% with the Smallest color ad in Verizon and 1/8 page ads in the Yellow Books.
Going to 1/2 page ads across the board and dropping the color, my closing rate is approximately 75% with MANY more shoppers, since we are closer to the front of the listing #3 or #4 in all 3 books…
When it costs me more to go to a 1/3 page ad than keep 1/2 page with my rating…I am apt to keep the 1/2 page. The only problem is that I cannot say now what I said before and am supposed to get more business because of it..We shall see. Strange advertising principle.

ParticipantSomeone should proofread the website…it is not good at all…even the franchise section looks very unprofessional. A buttton says (What it Cost) instead of (what it costs) with an s. Little things like that are huge to higher end customers who are supposedly who this is all being done to target.

ParticipantHow will anyone know about commercial services from the new ads? In my current ads commercial is mentioned along with evening apts, etc…
Gordon’s suggestion alone has paid for our 1/2 page ads…placing the pic of my son and myself in the ad. Almost everyone responding to the ad asks the same question ..”am I speaking with the man on the right or the left”? I almost always answer, “the handsome guy on the left”.
In out Yellow Books right now for us, it is more expensive to go to a 1/3 page than keeping 1/2 page. I am keeping 1/2 page and am the 2rd listing. $600/mo for the entire county in 2 books!
I just wish the ad could say something like SS, Chem Dry, ServiceMaster etc say. I met the YB rep yesterday and she said our ad was kind of like going into a boxing match with your hands tied behind your back… She reminded me that peple go into the YB to find services, not a cute Brand.
Interesting meeting

ParticipantMe too…meeting with Yellow Book Monday. First shot this year. Will undoubtedly reduce size from 1/2 page to maybe 1/3 or thereabouts. With nothing to say in the ad, it makes no sense to go bigger to say less to me. Just throwing away a lot of money for empty space…

ParticipantI will just roll up the sleeves…Really, I can just wear the shirts I have for the next year and a half…different logo, but I feel that none of my customers care a whit about the logo…they care about the quality and value we provide.
Finally went into a McDonalds for about the 4th time in 10 years and noticed that they didn’t have a McDonalds patch on their sleeve. I was in PepBoys thou this weekend and they did on their polos along with about 4 other patches of companies they stock.
Maybe we could do that…put patches on for Tennant, Century 400 and others??? The last time I wore anything on my sleeve was 1972 in the Air Force as an enlisted man…officers wear lapel pins thank you.

ParticipantGood observation Mike…
It struck a thought in this lazy old brain though. What about the other 300 +/- operators who are not on the bulletin board? I would have thought that with 450 +/- operators, more than only 1/3 would have signed up for the bulletin board access.
With something less than 1/3 of the total operators on the Bulletin Board, how in the world are they being notified?

ParticipantJeff,
Everyone is looking at the same thing! Unless they just happened to buy a windowless van recently.
My pricing thusfar is about $500 for a windowless side, rear door. Remember, they will not cover glass well. The ONLY problem I have had with my vinyl thusfar was on the rear glass.
I think I have to replace the side door with a solid panel door.
