Called Kevin today…thanks for the suggestion.

It is however too expensive for me. We run 2 vans and need 2 machines…then there is the report, and the $20…real quick went over $50/month with no charges. For someone who runs a lot of dollars, it makes sense, but not for someone like us that have gotten only 7 or so charges in 3 1/2 years….It would take some real charges to overcome the 1.8% difference in charges and other related costs.

Thanks to all for the info.

Sorry, and I apologize if the previous post sounded like a smart, or rather stupid remark, (just the chemist in me coming out)… but enzymes are not alive at all, but chemical compounds that help to speed up chemical reactions. The chemicals don’t die, just lose effectiveness over time.

$150.00 …. more than reasonable. Awesome price for an awesome add-on.

    Thanks, Cody.

In the ICS Magazine, March, 2007, there is a great article by Mark Warner, LMCCA President. Title is

    “The Low-Moisture Carpet Cleaning Revolution”

    , Page 36.

Great article with evolution of Low Moisture cleaning and an intro to the future with a brief discussion of encapsulation.

How many dollars on plastic do you run through a month?

Got that right…in Lancaster County in the 90s, a milk truck was involved in an accident and it broke open, milk ran down an embankment and into a small drainage ditch/tributary. Many, many thousands of dollars were spent (25-30k I believe) to contain the milk, excavate and then haul and dispose of the muck and mess.

Milk…from the farm??? The environmental dept had a great day that day.

We have environmental police here in PA, and I am sure, most areas, that roam around. We have our small bottles contained, not loose on the shelves and we ensure that the jugs are upright and caps tight. They can leak. The real risk is from something leaking out of the van to the environment unnoticed by an operator. Anyone could then call 911 and report it. Due to my past life, I am very aware of these things and am just cautious…

If anyone has an interest, I could take a pic of our small bottle storage and send…make is easy to bring inside when freezing as well.

For us, the easiest thing to do is fire a bad customer…

I would not refund the money until I had ensured that the odor was a real issue…I would have thought you would have detected something while you were there. And then if there is an odor, see if the other guy makes it go away…If he does, then the money is his in a heartbeat, if not, try to help him out by using FAE, deodorizer, etc. to make it go away and be a hero, taking the high road.

Little in this business to me is more satisfying than making a problem go away that the others can’t…Even if you do not want to work for him again, you might want to work for some of those he might tell about you…

    Just a couple of thoughts…

I did the same thing after hearing about it several years ago. I recently had a problem with the locking plug and just last week replaced the entire cord with something a whole lot lighter. The outer PVC covering is not as thick nor heavy and does not get caught between the drive plate and buffer housing. It is a lot easier to manage and deal with now. Also, I just loosely coil the cord, tie with a Velcro tie, and hang it on the handle making it easy to maneuver. MUCH, MUCH lighter and not another trip.

We always use the Oreck buffer on the steps…never ever use the Nobles on steps. Too dangerous.

I know that no one will believe this, but in the past 3 1/2 years, we have accepted the grand total of, I believe, 6-7 credit cards. Lancaster County, PA is very, very conservative…cash or check. And yes, I had 4 of them bounce and all four were made good within a week.

Finding a merchant services supplier for us was surprising…our bank…high fees, other suppliers fees plus percentages plus, plus… We just do not do enough volume in $$$/month in plastic to really pay. So, who won our comparisons..PayPal.

Who hasn’t heard of them or used them…almost all of the free world, or almost anyone who uses EBay. They are not fly by night as some of the companies may be, have a straight up reputation, take any and all cards and will credit bank account now…I think. Never had a problem with them in the past with my personal account.

    3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $20/month fee.

Simple, a little pricey, but simple and easy to set up, with no machine except a computer and run through same as with home office, but somewhat cheaper.

Hope this helps and if someone has a better plan, please let us know…

I sprayed some the other day and t broke up a nasty stain, before cleaning and the customer was shocked…I hadn’t even cleaned the carpet and it already looked 100% better with only the FAE before buffing…it broke up whatever was there…amazing stuff.
