Yes it is expensive. They base it off the yearly payroll to your employees. Which is dumb. I’ve been doing this for 9 years and my parents for 13 years before that. There as never been anything close to WC. Nor a hospital visits nor getting hurt while working resulting in not being able to work. But by law at least in CO you have to have it if you have employees.

I am currently processing with a company the charge 0.5% and $.10 per transaction and a $12 monthly service fee. These numbers are type right. They give me a month to try them out before putting me into a contract. I am about 3 weeks into that. The good thing is that I can process it right on my phone. They send you an app to install. It doesn’t matter if its swiped or keyed in. As far as the receipt is concerned you email to them. If they don’t have an email email it to yourself print it off and mail it to them. I will let you all know what my bill was for processing when I get it. This is not with the company Heartland that I was thinking about trying.

I currently clean for one on the Hiltons in town. They was that I got in was through tile and grout cleaning first. Mainly do to that because on the inspections that was one of the areas that they get marked on so a main concern. After getting some trust from the general manager. I then cleaned some of the carpet and have cleaned his house to. I was then asked to do and estimate with another Hilton and even did a demo. Manager liked it but the district one wanted hot water extraction and he/she didn’t see the demo. I even used the general managers name for the other Hilton for a reference. So I guess try to get in a different way with tile and grout or upholstery cleaning first then focus on the carpet.

I just did one a few months ago. Well it wasn’t the whole thing just a few chairs and a bar area. I have a couple of other hotels that I do them for .15 per foot and like $2-$3 for the seat of the chairs. I only go that low when they give me a lot at one time. Hotel got hit hard with the economy so I would let them know your regular price and the discount that you are giving them. I will usually tell them to vacuum for us. Then you can go in there with 2-3 buffers and really go fast. So you should still get around $150-$250 a hour, well at least that is my experience

Another way to do these ratios off and put then in a folder or 3 ring binder. Two reasons one for us and one for our employees. Then you know you are right.

Its good to see that some of you have started doing more repairs. I agree with Greg about the replacing the one stair. Using the old one as a template is the perfect idea. I had done stairs before and I first staple under the lip first then use the knee kicker, I really don’t like to use it, to install the rest on the piece. I have found out with using the old piece as a pattern put nails or something through 4 corners so it doesn’t slide. Then you can either cut it the the knife or use your scissors.

Just got another request for a restaurant “Denny’s”. They want it done every month I believe that no dual process will be need if I do it every month. Talk to the GM and she said that she knows that you get what you pay for. I am suppose to follow up tomorrow. I do believe a dual process will need to be done at least the first time.

I have heard that we are not supposed to be trying to find out who has Tandus carpet. Tandus has a rep for each state and the rep is supposed to eventually contact us when all is said and done. This is a wonderful thing and yes I don’t think that we are the primary provider. It would be cool. I don’t think the HB family is big enough to fulfill this need yet. Hopefully we will be when Tandus and the HB operators are. Who would not want their carpet clean and dry in 1 hour and Tandus approved. Very exciting.

Brian that answers my question. The only time that my parents sent our coupons was one time and they found out that they were cleaning for people that should of had their carpet cleaned 5 years ago and not 6 months ago. I have tried a similar thing send them out to repeat customers. I like the idea of the different rates for the 3 months. Keep us informed after March with results that would be great.

Here are some things to think about. One employee per van instead of two unless they are big jobs. I haven’t ran any numbers but I think that one employee per van in general is better for the winter months. I recently put drywall up and insulation in my garage. My wife wont put her car outside so I bring in some of the equipment and have a giant cooler for most of the product and is okay down to about 15 degrees. Do some what finish the garage it cost me about $400 in materials and so far I have had to heat it at all with a portable heater. I think the heat from the house keeps it warm enough. I have a little cheap thermometer it the to make sure it doesn’t get to cold. I have to keep it warm in there because I have my washer in my garage as well. Some up front money, but our heating bill was $36 last month that has much as our town home was. We just moved into this house so the I believe and think that I will save over $400 just in heat a year

A new thing that I have start was network advertising with a dog grooming company and a maid service. We made up a flier with all three of us on there and split the cost three ways and we had them out to customers and say these are some companies that we work with and recommend in the area. I don’t have any numbers yet. We just started last week. It cost me less that $50. I am very anxious to see if this will work or not. If it does I just need one job. I really think it will work out better than that. And it is also a now pressure sale. Next time will be even cheaper because there wont be as much design as the first.

I don’t charge to move furniture either. I only charge for the extra sqft. The only time when I charge for moving furniture is in the bedrooms because you have to usually move the furniture more than once. Rarely do people want this. In front a couch I find that moving it I can get a better clean on the traffic area in front of it. Yes its not dirty underneath but you don’t have to go over it three times either. Here is a couple of good things that I can think of about not charging extra for furniture moving. 1. Some of the competition does if you don’t that is one more thing to set you a little bit apart. 2. Or raise your prices a couple cents for everybody and have that included. That might be a little bit of a gray area. In my opinion the more things that we can do that set us apart from everybody else the better. Just one more reason to call us. Yes is might be a little bit of a pain, but we all need every job we can get these days.

Yes like most HB operators we take them too. I learned a new thing the other day about them. For all of you that have a rewards card that gives you points towards whatever or mileage. The credit card companies don’t pay for those we do. The businesses that take those cards are the ones that pay for the rewards. So I get charged the same roughly the same amount, however when I accept a rewards card the fee almost doubles. I believe this is the same way for every company that accepts credit cards. That’s why we don’t accept discover/novus, and American Express. The rewards are to great and so are the fees.

I would like to now if the new ninja produces heat at if you can clean carpet with it. I would like to have that option. I would then be more inclined to buy the unit if it has more than one purpose.

I had one just recently that was probably about a gallon of blood the lady was rushed out in an ambulance. It took me three trips and about 4 hours. and I wish I had the water claw then. I have purchased it now and use it mainly for the urine stains. I like to use cold water first because its the cheapest. Just like everyone else has said. Yes hot water will make it harder to get the blood out. I never that about coffee that way. Be prepared to come back or at least add that into the price.
