Gordon, over the years of me working w/ computers and my own computer clients. I’ve heard that Quick Books is better than Quicken. I personally use Quicken for my personal checkbook. However, Quickbooks is better b/c it is alot easier to use w/ taxes. Or so I’ve been told.

If my personal computer business was more popular than it is, I personally would use Quick Books. Both are real easy to use, once you sit down and play w/ them. 😀 Personaly I’d like to see us go away from the HB program and use something like Quickbooks. I guess I’ll have to look in to that program.

    Hello Everyone,

I am new in Atlanta, GA. I have made a commitment to cleaning T&G, but I’d like to know the process a better. I’ve seen the video to and it is a little vague. Any tips on cleaning restaurants, daycares, etc.. Greasy areas. Anything about the specific process from applying the hardfloor cleaner to drying would help.

    Thanks

    Nev

Didn’t know where else to post this–Just read the City Owners October Newsletter and noticed that Dennis “bettered his best” in August. Congrats Dennis!

Thanks to all of you for welcoming me to the Board.

Dennis, you may not have your own network yet but no matter where we are located we are part of the HB network. There are people in the good ol’ USA who have relatives and friends up North and I don’t think there are any of us or any of our operators who wouldn’t be happy to tell everyone they know that you have areas for sale up there. It might cost you a fishing trip but what the heck, we’re all in this together. If we could get all State Owners enthused about sending packets to their operators, maybe we could compile a list of all areas we have available and get that out with the packets. Paying operators for leads is a good idea. What were you thinking? Cash, a discount on certain products, or something else?

The newspaper ad we’ve used for a long time is one I got from Dan Child. It’s a one-column ad surrounded by a bold box. It says: Heaven’s Best (Heaven’s Best is in bold letter) carpet, upholstery and tile cleaning franchise is available in ________(name of city). Equipment, training and support included. $24,900. Please call________(phone number). We haven’t sold anything with this ad for over a year. That should tell me something, huh? I really like the letter that you sent to Chambers of Commerce and plan to try it. I also liked the ad Ammon & Jeremy Child designed with the new logo on a post card. If we could put the pertinent sales information on something like that, I think it would be more apt to get the attention of those we’d like to have read it. Since I live outside my Heaven’s Best State, I would mail the letters and not take them around personally.

Ammon – The Franchise Sales Packet (I was calling in Info. Packet) and Sales DVD/CD are available on the price list. DVD/CD is #712 and our cost is $1.50. The Franchise Sales Packet #715 and is $2.50 to us. If you’re not placing an order soon that you could ad these items to, I’d be happy to go to Corporate on Monday and get them and mail it to you. What’s your address? You’ll be excited when you see them–they are very professionally done and something we can all be proud to send out to prospective buyers.

Thanks again to all of you!

Ammon – I’ll admit that I’m one who has been reading the BB for sometime without responding. I’ve now come to grips with the fact that it’s o. k. for me to voice my opinion even if I get slapped on the hand ocassionally, so here goes: We are paying our $200/mo internet advertising fee with all of you because we agreed in Dallas, as State Owners, that we would. In the June Newsletter it stated that Arizona had 18 leads–as I stated in another section of the BB, I don’t know who they are or where they went–we haven’t sold anything from internet advertising, or any other advertising for that matter, all year (or the previous year). I don’t really know what is considered a “lead” from internet advertising. Maybe Cody could clear that up for all of us. Do you guys handle your own leads? Corporate Office handles our leads because they do a better job than I do with the explanation of the process, etc. We, unlike many of you, have never been involved in the cleaning process. We are cabable and actively involved in the business end of things and with our operators. Anyway, it might be helpful to all of us if we received an email, or something, from Corporate every time they have a lead for our State–something simple–just a name and contact information maybe. I don’t know what an equitable solution is for internet advertising, but I think it’s costing Corporate a ton more than $200/mo. As far as paying by population, I’m not sure that’s the way to go either. Here’s my dilemma: Arizona has a population of 5+ million, but the majority of that population is in Maracopa County, 3.5+ million, and all those areas were sold and operational–some of them for seven or more years–before we began internet advertising. We are basically left with 8 more areas to develop. Tucson has a population of around 500,000 and the other seven areas have a combined population of 283,658. There are lots of tiny towns in Arizona that would not support a Heaven’s Best operation by themselves. Anyway, we’re dealing with under 1 million population–I’d love the $20/mo! I’m sure we’ll get the low-down on the internet advertising in January, and at that time maybe a decision will be made as to whether we should continue it or not. For what it’s worth, I’m hoping that State Owners with more than one State are currently paying $200/mo for each state they own. If they are not, the current system isn’t equitable either.

I loved the idea of a National Marketing Campaign and would be willing to be involved in something cooperatively. Maybe Corporate’s money would be better spent on a Campaign like this, that we could all contribute to, rather than on internet advertising–just a thought!

Thanks to everyone for your contributions.

Hey Dennis – Another State Owner with a computer – how ’bout that! I’m responding to your Jul 13th post. We have all of the Phoenix Valley operating. Our goal is to have all other areas in Arizona sold and operating by Dec. 2007. We are doing newspaper ads and contributing our $200/mo to Corporate for internet advertising. (The June Newsletter stated they had receive 18 leads for Arizona–I don’t know who they were or what happened to them–maybe they were people they sent packets to who didn’t ever respond.) Since our best Operators are those who have been referred to us by other Operators, we’ve also recruited help from our Operators in selling more areas by sending each of them an Information Packet and asking them to talk to family, friends and customers to see if anyone’s interested in owning a Heaven’s Best Business. When the new Info. Packets came out we sent each of them one of those to remind them to keep “talking” and also told them that the $500.00 finder’s fee would go a long way in helping to pay Convention expenses, if they referred someone to us who bought an area before the end of the year. To thank them for the time they spend recruiting, and to get them implementing the logo changes, we sent each Operator a shirt with the new logo on it, a package of “Thank You” cards and a package of “Reminder” cards. It might be helpful if all State Owners would send Info. Packets to their operators so we’d have lots of people recruiting for all of us.

Bryan – Vegas Incentives – We’ve been slow implementing incentives because all of our Operators have committed to attend Convention without incentives. We are following your lead though and offering to pay one night’s lodging (up to $72.00) if they purchase 6 gal. (#126) fabric protector between Oct. 1st and Dec. 31st, and a second night’s lodging (up to $72.00) if they purchase 6 cases of large spotters during the same time period. We are considering paying for lunch and banquet meals too, but won’t decide that until we know how much they are.

John – I too emailed Cody with our Convention numbers. How ’bout the price of meals? Seems like I read somewhere about a registration fee too. What is that going to cost? Please let us know so we can decide whether to include those things in our incentives.

Thanks to everyone who have shared ideas so far. I’ve been reading the BB for a long time–just not participating.

I know I’m slow getting involved here. I’ve read the BB for a long time but have, until now, been a “silent observer”. We always give 101 for Christmas Gifts. Before they had the Gift Certificates, we would take a Christmas card to the office with a curly ribbon attached to it and tie it to the 101 and have them ship it for us.

Start at 40 to 50 cents psf. If they only want a cleaning. If they want the wax, or so may coats of wax or finish then charge up to 1.50 psf. We are planning on .85 cents psf. That is the average in our area. Depends on type of tile as well. So many different types and the way they are made. I have been reasearching mexican tile (Saltillo tile) for 2 months. Our products won’t work on it because of the porisity. This is primarily seen in southern U.S. I have talked to John and am making plans to find something that works because this stuff is all over southern texas and most likely California and Arizona as well.
