    Yup,

I agree with everyone. I dealt with a customer this week that told me he had a few pet (urine) stains in his carpet. I beat a local competitor “Stanley Steemers”.

MY BIG MISTAKE WAS GIVING A FIRM PRICE ON SOMETHING I DID NOT SEE FIRST HAND. I TRUSTED THIS GUY, BECAUSE HE WORKED WITH ME ELSEWHERE!

I went to do the job and I used color chips as a visual for me and the customer to count the spots. There were over 23 spots, and I still missed a few. I spent almost two hours using the upholstery mate to get the stains up, and still used an additional 45 minutes or so to clean the rooms. Two rooms took up over a gallon and a half of enzyme, so I charged an additional $25.00 for the enzyme.

To make a long story shorter, the cost became an issue for the client. After a long discussion I decided to refund him his cost to be free of this character.

By the way, he mentioned that I did a heck of a lot better job that the “steemer” guys. Well of course, I spent 3 hours there trying to do a quality job.

Without question I underpriced the job, and ended up with a complaining customer. I’ll never give a firm price without seeing the job first again. It was the first time and last time.

Thanks so much for both of your replies. I am quickly moving toward purchasing new pads, and I am having a challenge deciding what to go with. Anyway, all is well.

Thanks for your support, and I will be calling you all soon.

    Hi Cody,

I emailed all of our operators yesterday reminding them to get their registration in by Dec. 1st. I’ll give them a call in a couple of days to follow up.

    Thanks!

Hello everyone, and happy thursday to you. I realize that a lot of you have questions about the new program. I’ll tell you it’s a program that will integrate w/ Quickbooks, but that’s about all I can tell you for right now. Do stay tuned for further info. As information becomes available I will post it. 🙂

There are 5 operators/owners in the field that we will be selecting to try the program out, and then depending on how they like it and what they tell me about their experience, we’ll go one way or the other. I’m really hoping it works because I think it can be a great change for the company, but we will see.

STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER INFO. Please do keep asking questions, and I’ll answer accordingly. 🙂

All of you are awesome and I’m proud to be a part of the family! Thank you.

We need to get James Keenan to get on here and post his story. Granted it won’t top the sacrificed chicken, but it is pretty good. Several sq. ft. of finger nail polish spread around that he got called to clean……

    Hey Gordon,

Are you using Quickbooks? If so what version?

It looks like it will only work with Quickbooks. However, if you don’t already have quickbooks, no need to worry b/c we would be bundling customer manager with quickbooks simple start. This is all still in the planning stages, I’m still working on getting 5 purchased to get them sent out in to the field. It will however, allow you to import your contacts from HB or Quicken

Now, I need to know, our Canada users. Do you already have quickbooks?

For all of those that are concerned. If you look at the newsletter portion of the website, you will see that all of the available newsletters are up. We have 2006 currently posted, then if you want to view past years, just click on the archive and then on the year you want to view, and they’ll all be there. 🙂

Hi all, Mike is right. I am working on a couple of programs that will hopefully replace the HB schedule. It allows you to keep track of customer database and will also allow you to customize newsletters to send out to customers. I’ve played with the program over the last couple of months and love it!

we are currently selecting 5 people in the field to try it out and see what they think of it. I’ve got one franchisee using it right now and so far he’s really liking it. I’m hoping to unveil it to every one down in Vegas, but we’ll have to see.

Please do stay tuned for further info.

I’m feeling better about the registration fee–thanks for all your comments. I haven’t heard from anymore of my operators since Friday, so all my operators are still planning to attend–minus two wives. I hope those two operators who opted not to bring their wives will increase their spotter sales to cover the cost., so the wives can attend.

Someone on the operators’ portion of the BB, can’t remember his name, wondered if he could purchase video tapes on things covered at the convention and not attend. To me, the most important part of the meetings I’ve attended with HB have been the interaction with the other people there. You can’t video tape that Heaven’s Best Spirit or put a price on it!

    HI Justin,

You’ve got some good ideas going! I would definitley follow up w/ the customer’s you’ve sent post cards to! Also, start going through your customer list, see who you haven’t cleaned for a while and call them as well.

I haven’t started doing apartment yet, but I have heard that they are notorious for not paying. Any suggestions on how to deal with that up front? Have ideas of my own, but I want to hear from the community.
