I did a house last weekend with white carpet. I was using my Ninja Steam cleaner for the stairs and unknown to me a hose had sprung a leak. I had a couple gallons of cleaning solution in the carpet. I extracted all the moisture I could and everything seemed to be fine. I had to go back 2 days later because the area tuned brown from dirt resurfacing. I figured no problem, just spray and scrub it again with a couple of passes. I went over it 4 times and it seemed to be a little yellow. I spoke to the customer again today and he said it is still yellow. How can I get this out?

First make sure there is no moisture still wicking from the pad. Couple quick pokes with the urine probe should answer that question. What kind of carpet is it? If it is wool, then you are dealing with a brown out. Regular nylon carpet could be a mixture of things causing it. Orange deodorizer is a tannin and should help with wicking and brown out. You could try misting straight Orange Deod on it and allowing dwell time followed by 101 (or a 101 mixture heavy on Orange Deod with dwell) on the spot and then clean as usual. If it looks clean when you finish, take a fan and dry it while you are there so you can make sure the yellow doesn’t reappear again. Follow with the probe again to check pad moisture after cleaning. If Orange Deod doesn’t work, you could also try coffee remover.

THanks for the info. I’m going back again on Thursday and I hope to get it taken care of this time.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Dave,
Any luck with the spot? I have a somewhat similar situation coming up with a lot of brown spots (as described by customer) that reappeared after cleaning. Regular that I thought would never “cheat” on us did, and called us to fix the problem that all of ours favorite company created (and couldn’t fix on 2 repeat visits). They learned their lesson and will never cheat again. I hope it is just wicking and not a larger problem.
