Well I seemed to have missed the gang today at corporate so let me ask online! I am supposed to meet with my YP rep tomorrow & was searching the “FTP” files. What I am wondering is if I can give my rep access to the ftp files directly. I’m sure the printouts I can do are not going to be good enough quality. I was thinking direct digital access would be best. So what can ya’ll tell me?
January 10, 2007 at 1:15 am #148478FL18ParticipantThe FTP files were made for that purpose as well as your own use. They are allowed the access. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I remeber reading that from a post around the time the FTP site came out. Look at previous postings under view posts from Tyler, regarding the issue. Just be sure to drill in the whole not messing with the logo issue. If not comfortable with it, then copy to a disc or floppy and give to rep. That is what I did. Jason made me one and I copied it and gave to rep.

Ron SmithJanuary 10, 2007 at 4:17 pm #148480Dan ChildParticipantHi guys, to answer your question about the ftp site. Any one in the company and their advertisers can access the FTP site w/ a user name and password, see previous posts for username and password.
It’s not that you need an expensive software package to open the site, you can open the FTP site from your web browser, what you need the software package for is to view any other file except for .jpg or .tiff, other words, anything that is .ai you would need the software package for, and that’s what your advertisers will have, is the program to open those .ai files.
Hope this helps, if you’re utterly confused let me know and I’ll try to explain better! 🙂 Also stay tuned, I”m in the process of posting a mailer that Brian and Kelly Sutton e-mailed me.
January 11, 2007 at 12:33 am #148481AnonymousInactiveI burned my selected ad copy to a CD. I felt this was more secure than giving an “outsider” access to our personal portion of the web-sight. If for some reason this restricts the advertisers ability to perform their task of making changes in the ad, please let me know asap. Thanks!
January 11, 2007 at 4:39 pm #148482Dan ChildParticipantThanks for the post Brian! It’s great to see the involvement on the board going up a lil’ bit! 🙂 Burning what you need to a CD and then giving it to your advertiser works just fine. Do be rest assured though, there is a way you can access the FTP site w/o having to go through the operator’s only page on the website.
It is completely safe to send your advertisers directly to the FTP site, in fact we encourage it b/c that’s where all the ad’s are! Off the FTP site, you and the advertisers can view and download, but you can’t change the file on the site, so it’s completely safe. Please do, send your advertiser’s directly to the site and don’t give them your username and password to the the Heaven’s Best website.
For those of you that can’t find the post about the FTP site, here’s the info again.

January 13, 2007 at 8:00 am #148483HBplantcityflaParticipantThe expensive software package that Cody talks about is called Adobe Illustrator. The latest version can be purchaced at http://www.softwareking.com for $178.49 not including shipping. That is absolutely the cheapest that I could find. If you buy direct from Adobe it is 499 and Ebay around 300. I have invested in it so that I may create my own “camera ready” ads. For example, I am going to be doing a double truck ad in the next yellow pages. I will be going to the FTP site and taking the example ad from it, modifying the numbers, locations, and a few bullets and then send them the whole file just as it is. I will then ask for 1 proof of it so that I may confirm that they recieved the exact same file. I am absolutely sick of my ads getting messed up and losing revinue because of it. I am 100% sure that it will pay for itself soon. This is just an idea for some of you out there who feel comfortable with computers. 😀

January 15, 2007 at 3:51 pm #148486Dan ChildParticipantEveryone that can not access the FTP site, needs to be certain they’re doing it from either I-net explorer or Fire Fox, those are the two that I know it will work w/. I know that MSN’s web browser it will not, I think AOL will but I haven’t really heard anything there.
If you can’t gain access to the FTP site, you need to clean out your history, cookies, temp i-net files, and cache. If you don’t know how to do this call me, and I’ll walk you through it. also, be sure you’re typing all the information in as follows.
ftp://69.20.128.29
It comes up asking for a user name and password.username is: hbuser (all lower case)
password is: flyer (all lower case) -
