Who has there own web pages out there. If you do have one what are the key words for your search, and what is your placement. Do you pay for play like google. What are your limits that you set to pay for searches. Is this working for you.
I talked with the web designer for HB and found out some very interesting info. In a region that covers my area, me being 33% of the coverage had 7913 searches for carpet cleaning in the month of January. In the US there were 793,000 searches under carpet cleaning last month. This is in a slow month for the industry.
I think that I am going to start using a web and paying for hits in the future. He said something that caght my ear. No other form of advertising is only going to charge you for the customers that are looking for your services. The only ones I could think of is service magic and other WEB based companys.

Hey Greg if you get a second could you look at my topic getting apartments on the bulletin board. ThanksFebruary 24, 2007 at 3:04 pm #149012FL18ParticipantCorporate will set up a page for you as well. They should have all the info you need on this one
February 24, 2007 at 3:58 pm #149013chez6996ParticipantI’m in the process right now of having an audio/video web site built for all my operators in Florida They wil all be linked to this site. Maybe, (just a thought) you could build one for the whole state that you are in and share the cost. Will let you know when it is finished and supply you with web address for viewing.

Great idea for the state owners to perhaps help in coordinating this. Once one has broken the ground, so to speak, then the other states could piggyback off that effort or share and then the city owners could share. It could become more regional in nature and have a more
local
feel.
Many of us neither have the expertise to crate a nice webpage nor have the funds…but can clean very, very well…
February 25, 2007 at 10:58 pm #149015Ca22ParticipantMike it was the corperate web designer that I talked with. He was a big help in giving me stats and ideas. The HB city web that he does is very similar to corperate. That is why the price for set up is low. They use propritary software that only can be used through their hosting. This is the reason that the hosting is much more than you can find elsewhere at $35 per month $420 per year. My question is… is it worth it. They do not do very many city web pages, most of their clients are larger. They offer it all the same. What he said to me that stuck was you are better to have a nice one page add/web and pay for placement than to spend thousands on a web site and have no one find you.
I have been pulling up as many web pages for cities as I could find. I have seen some good, bad, and amazing. So far the DC boys have my vote at http://www.heavensbest.biz. I woulld like feed back as to what the return is on a web page.

Speak to those who know..Barry and Jim…they KNOW!!! For the greater metropolitan D.C. area anyway. Only your competition would know for your specific geographical area. Personally, I would bet that the D.C. pages would work very well in almost any metropolitan area.
Call Jim and Barry…they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Google may blacklist your site and you won’t show up for any keywords (i.e. Sacramento Carpet Cleaning). Search engine optimization or SEO is very tricky nowadays and it is much harder to be listed in the top 5 (which is where you want to be) for your keywords without a lot of research and work. A few of you have called and I’ve talked about how I don’t think putting a lot of resources into Internet marketing is a good idea. People just flat out don’t use the Internet as much as they do the phone book or some form of direct mail.
Now as far as Google AdWords or Yahoo Search goes, it may be worthwhile to look into this. If keywords in your area like “houston carpet cleaning” aren’t super competitive and the pay-per-click amount isn’t high then you may want to consider doing this. If there is a lot of competition then you could find your self in a bidding war with 2-3 other local companies.
Let me reiterate; having a website that is uniform is great but you may find your website penalized by Google. Proceed with caution.
*****After rereading my post it sounds a bit confusing. What I meant to say is that I wouldn’t pay another company to “get your website ranked high”. It’s too costly. The risk/reward ratio is high/low. Pay per click may be your best bet.******
