InactiveTry this Gary.
I vacuum the area a little extra on berber carpets, then rake the area and vacuum again. (as you know berber is a very tight carpet) cause like the man says it is easier to clean a little dirt than alot of mud. I then prespray with the FAE let sit for 15 minutes and clean with a mixture of 101 and orange deodorizer. (95% 101 to5% deodorizer) Do not over spray on berber! I use the Dirt napper with a finishing pad.
Good luck

InactiveOne of the problems with Berber is that soil gets trapped under the loop and our system is unable to remove that soil. Another problem is traffic areas become matted down and removing soil from these areas becomes even more difficult.

Participant7 out of ten jobs we do are berber carpets. Step #1 FAE-#2 dirt napper with BBC pad #3 turf pad. When you have bad traffic areas on berber make a few passes in those areas before moving to the rest of the carpet. What I learned from my brother Steve he’s an operator in Pa. is that your moisture on berber has to be just right, not to wet just wet enough also make sure your BBC”S are in good shape. Give me a call if I can help in any way.

ParticipantI use towels on all berber (when i take berber jobs) after thin pad and dirt napper. I have been using bath towel size not finishing towels. I have found that they remove more soil than any pad known to man..if you really want to clean,,finish off every job with a towel…

Berber is my favorite carpet to clean. I wish all my jobs were berber.

ParticipantI do a lot of berber also. The biggest trick is (as with all things!) you can’t be in a big hurry!! I agree with the responses above and add TIME!! Use the vacuum, several directions. Use the FAE and allow plenty of dwell time. Use the dirt napper, and then finish up with a very thorough buffing using woven turf – flip it and then use another if necessary! Our system will clean berber well. If it’s reall matted down – rake before applying FAE!

MemberI’m not terribly busy yet, but things are starting to progressively pick up a bit. I have done two jobs for little old ladies so far and I can’t help but feel compelled to do more than I’m there to do. I know, I know. Little old ladies in Florida? Who would have ever thunk it? 😀

InactiveI have found that little old ladies love to talk. I try to have Vicki put them as my last job so I can spend a little time visiting. They love that! They are my favorite customers at the end of the day, and one of my least favorite in the middle of the day when I’m really trying to make time.

MemberI couldn’t agree more with you Brian. I spent absolutely way too much time at this little old lady’s house. However, it was one of my better experiences becuase she was very genuine and interesting with her stories of growing up in France. I didn’t have any more jobs for the day and it ended up being a very good experience. With that being said I can totally see how I’ll need to start scheduling them towards the end of the day for the sake of time management. As I’ve stated before I tend to go above and beyond my already above and beyond service when it comes to the old gals. I guess I’m just a big softie! 😀
