I just got off the phone with Alex at EZNETTOOLS. He explained that where your address listing is makes a difference. If the address is listed nearest to your preferred cleaning part of town, for example, it will come up closer to the top of the page in that neighborhood. Also, if you have a P.O. box or similar (Mail Boxes Etc. location) for your listed address, Google will eventually pull your listing for a period of time (like six months) loosing all your reviews as well. Alex said “The most commonly used is your own address. The more better (new English) is to partner with a business you are cleaning and use their business address. Check with the post office to determine what they prefer… Suite 1, Space 1, or Unit 1 etc. If the business has a mailbox, you’d be good the add your own box by theirs. Ask the business to call you with any mail received. Google will send out a card with numbers you’ll need to respond to right away.”
EZNETTOOLS is awesome but they need from you continual “Customer Comments” and get people to Facebook “Like Us” in order to move you up in the rankings.

Alex is right on the money. I touched on this during our regional seminar in May. I own a large area (800+ sq miles and 1.4MM population). My address is centrally located in Milwaukee County, so I get the bulk of my business in that area. Waukesha County (the burbs) is further west and a much smaller portion of my sales come from that area. That is largely due to Google’s local 3 pack showing cleaners based in Waukesha County for searchers in that area.

I’ve actually considered splitting my company into 2 areas in order to fully leverage my service area. Heaven’s Best Milwaukee and Heaven’s Best Waukesha. That would require 2 business addresses, 2 websites, 2 phone numbers, 2 Google My Business accounts, etc. Seems like a lot of effort.

In the meantime, my best suggestions for showing up on Google in areas further away from your business address:

    1. Make sure your Google My Business account accurately portrays your service area. I found an issue with this when EZ Net Tools set up my account. A large chunk of Waukesha County was not included in my service area. Once I fixed that, I started getting more calls from those areas
    2. Use Google Adwords to pay for ads in areas further away from your biz address
