After reading the favorable reviews posted for the Water Claw I decided to purchase one. My first opportunity to give it a try was a small pet urine clean-up for a customer. Typically, I would use my standard 4 inch UM wand head for the extraction but now I had “THE CLAW”! I applied my cleaning solutions and confidently used my new accessory to extract all of the solution from the carpet and padding. I continued applying pressure and extracting until I no longer could see liquid being pulled through the head of the water claw unit. When I finished, I was still a bit curious so I decided to go back over the area with the standard 4 inch UM tool. To my great suprise (and disappointment) the standard head pulled up quite a bit MORE liquid. I tried this once again on another spot with the same result. I put the claw back in the box where it has remained ever since.
Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else tried using our 4 inch wand to go over a spot previously extracted with the Water Claw?
This got me to thinking…. the convincing video on the Water Claw website compares the tool to a typical HWE type cleaning head which is what, 10-14 inches wide? Is it possible tha the Water Claw is LESS effective than our 4 inch wand simply because of the difference in its cleaning “footprint”? In other words, the Claw may be MORE effective against the HWE cleaning wand because it has a smaller extraction surface area but LESS effective than our 4 inch wand since it has a larger extraction surface area.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and/or feedback.

When using the water claw you will want to put it on the area and let it set with the suction for about 4-5 minutes or longer. Even though you may not see water coming up it will still be extracting the moisture. Our 4 inch wand requires you to baby sit it. The water claw will work while you are off doing other things Our 4 inch wand works great but it requires you to be there the entire time you are using it. The water claw can be left alone without you watching it. If you are not happy with the water claw I will let you return it for a full refund.March 24, 2010 at 6:32 am #154316Ca22ParticipantI have been using the water claw since the first time they came out. We have two sizes small and large. The small for doing urine spots and stain extractions. The large for doing flood work. I have seen almost every tool there is and by far I am still a believer in the claw. When you used the claw did you push down on the claw? This will get it to suck the moisture out of the pad and the backing. When ever I use the large I always do a quick extract with a wand first then follow with the claw. The last step is to go over with a wand again. The water claw will pull up water to the top and get the pad extracted very well. What it does not due is get the last surface moisture up. I would suggest as Cody stated leaving it on longer, or finishing it up with a few dry strokes of the hand wand. I had the chance to demo a $2500 extraction wand that was more like a small robot that you ride, and the water claw outperformed it hands down. With any new equipment it takes practice and patience to learn how to get the most out of it. By far you are ahead of the learning curve from posting on the Forum.

This allows the claw to create the initial suction needed. I actually poor extra water on the spot before putting the claw on. Then press down and let it get ahold. then you can let it sit by itself. It’s not really a lot faster but it does like Cody says, let you go do something else while it works.
