I was wondering which washers you guys have bought. I have found that the washer will pay for itself in about two years. I know I need a commercial washer with a basket. Just wondering if anybody has a favorite brand.
Thanks,

This machine does not have the standard center agitator, instead, it has two circular agitators near the bottom of the “dished” tub that form to the contour of the tub. The machine does not work well for clothing but works great for pads. I can easily wash 10 pads to a load. Up to 12 of the regular green stripe pads. All BBC, only 8. I recently bought a 2nd one for my employees home. Bad news, it sounds like the model will be discontinued.

My cousin used to work in Newton, IA at their headquarters. I saw a Whirlpool washer similar to yours that was minus the center agitator, but have no idea how similar it is to the Maytag TL in its other capacities/performance.
August 5, 2006 at 12:33 am #147283pachecoParticipantWe had cleaned our pads in Speed Queens in a laundromat. The agitator beat them up too much and I could see replacing pads regularly. The front end loader tumble washes and with the max time, gets the pads very clean.
A year ago we bought a top of the line, front end loader by Kenmore (Whirlpool) I believe. We were impressed by how dry the clothes and pads are when removed…some 1600 rpm. Saves on drying time for clothes, hence $$$. The only drawback is the waterpump is very sensitive to any staples, etc that may pass through. I am glad we bought the extended warranty, 5 years.
Anyway, I might take exception with the payback in 2 years thought…Perhaps less withless wear and tear on the pads and alowing them to last much longer. With the added saving on the drying time I think it may be les.
Look at any of the high speed front end loaders..plenty now on the market and prices dropping.
Just my 2 cents.
August 5, 2006 at 5:49 am #147284hbottumwaParticipantI posted this years ago, However I use the Frididaire Gallery. I have had it about 4 years. I had a different brand that was discontinued before that. They both are/were front load washers. Both about $450. Both cleaned about 8 pads a load with great success (30 min. cycles). I pay my children a $1 a load and they are always wanting money, so why not let them earn it and I get to deduct it! Pay my kids and deduct it to, What a country!
August 7, 2006 at 3:04 am #147285AnonymousInactiveI bought a Whirlpool Duet 2 months ago. Used to wash at the local laundromat. I then started washing them in my agitator Matag for 2 months at home. That created tons of lint and lots of wear on the pads, plus the water bill doubled. Bought the Whirlpool front loader from a local dealer, (small local business people need to use each other) the water bill dropped down to a point just slightly higher than before I started washing them at home. Great investment. Gordon, I don’t have any kids at home and my wife doesn’t like to touch the dirty pads. Any suggestions? 😛

Maybe you could teach the dog to do it. Buy a 10 ft pole for your wife and a big box of chocolates! Oh, and buy those big gloves and eye protection (like those ones used in the movie “Mr. Mom”).
P.S. These ideas are to be shared as though it was your ideas I don’t need any credit for this!August 7, 2006 at 2:56 pm #147287CO11ParticipantThanks for all of the input. I will keep it in mind as I make the purchase.
JamieAugust 8, 2006 at 4:16 am #147288NJ05ParticipantI use a launromat almost 95% of the time eventhough we have the front loading Kenmore…the laundromat has the real deal and we don’t have other peoples…”soil” in our machine, they come out much cleaner as well.
August 8, 2006 at 5:07 am #147289AnonymousGuestI agree with Gary, we use the laundry mat across from our shop. We also have the Kenmore Elite and works fine during our slow months Jan/Feb. We go through a few pads on a daily basis and find the heavy duty commercial machines at the laundry mat are more efficient and save time.
August 10, 2006 at 7:46 pm #147290AnonymousInactiveMy wife Missy just bought a new washer and dryer ,the Whirlpool cabrio. She did inform me and my pads are to stay out of the wash room or else !!!!!!!!!! She says my pads make her clothes smell bad. So I now go to the laundry mate.
August 10, 2006 at 11:15 pm #147291AnonymousInactiveWe use the Maytag Neptune front loader . . . for pads only. We’ve had it for 5 years now. It holds about 8 pads and some towels. We do about 3-8 loads per day depending on the work load. My only problem with this machine is we’ve shelled a few door gaskets. This makes a mess and the gasket costs between $75 $100 installed. I love the convenience of doing the laundry at home. More time with the family. I would recommend this machine.
August 11, 2006 at 3:06 am #147292HBPuyallupParticipantTalk to a appliance guy that fixes them but doesn’t sell washers. They should know what cleans the best and what last the longest.
September 9, 2006 at 9:17 am #147293Bret WootonParticipantI’ve been considering a washer at home. I too use commercial machines at the laundy matt. I havn’t actively been searching, but I did run across a guy at a show that talked to me briefly about leasing a commercial machine for about $75 a month. Anybody know anything about that?
September 9, 2006 at 2:09 pm #147294AnonymousInactiveI don’t know anything about leasing, but I would consider buying if I were you. Take the $75/mo. and you will have your own machine purchased in a year and it should last for years to come. Sometimes there are no interest deals out there to purchase washing machines . . . free money! Just my 2 cents.
