InactiveI’m tired of making a mess on the floor when doing upholstery cleaning only jobs. So I’m thinking of sewing up some sort of plastic/cotton 6’x10′ mat to set things on while cleaning. I’m interested to hear of others ideas? So…….spill it. Get those ideas flowing.

InactiveI sometimes use a 8×6 tarp but, then you end up with soaked knees (unless you want to stand while doing upholstery). More often then not I use a handfull of towels.

ParticipantI concur using towels around the floor is the quickest way for myself to keep from making things messy.

InactiveYou are going to go through all that trouble to manufacture this “cover”. I just use 2-3 towels. I try to catch as much solution I can on the towels, but if I notice a build up then I’ll take 2 seconds and wipe it up. It’s fast and the customer seems to really appreciate you thinking of their floor.

ParticipantRon,
I think everyone has their own way of doing things. Not every operator is going to do the exact same things as you do. The mat is probably going to look more professional than a whole bunch of towels put down on their hardwood floors or tile. No need to criticize every operators motives or ideas.August 9, 2005 at 1:44 am #145169Anonymous

ParticipantI PURCHASED A DROP CLOTH AT HOME DEPOT..IT IS WHAT THEY CALL A “RUNNER” 3 FT BY 12 FT CANVASE. A COUPLE OF THESE WORK QUITE WELL AND LOOK VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY DON’T COST AN ARM AND A LEG,ARE WASHABLE, EASY TO MOVE AND IF THE CUSTOMER WANTS PROTECTOR I PUT A LITTLE ON THE DROP CLOTH EACH TIME AND THEY CLEAN UP VERY WELL. I ALSO USE THEM AS A WALKING RUNNER FOR ENTRY INTO THE CUSTOMERS HOUSE.
