Need some input on this subject. We have some ideas but we can sure use some more. Work is kind of slow so we thought to try telemarketing. Has anyone tried this and if so what was your script? How did it work for you?
    hope you can help.

    Rose,

We have never done any cold calling over the phone. However, we do reminder calls to customers we have serviced and have not heard from in over 12 months. Our standard script for this call is “Hello, this is your carpet cleaner (name) w/HB. We are calling our loyal customers with a standard reminder; we cleaned for you in 200? Many of our customers appreciate a reminder call for the carpet and/or upholstery cleaning to make sure they keep their carpet (or upholstery) on a maintenance plan. Would you like to hear about our maintenance plan? If this is not a good time, we make calls quarterly, when would be a better time for you? Thank you for your time, we look forward to cleaning for you again in the near future.”

This is another way of updating your records if the phone number no longer exists. Most of our customers appreciate the reminder and if they do not schedule, will give us a time frame for the next cleaning.

    Hope this helps.

I sold door to door and on the phone at different times in my life. One approach you can take is tell them that you are looking to do more business in their area. In exchange for them “allowing” you to clean their home to get exposure in the neighborhood, you will give them a discounted price. On top of the discounted rate, if they refer a friend to you that uses your service, they will recieve x amount for each referal. You can leave a spotter bottle to use with a “discount code” to give to friends. Also, if you are calling over the phone, any name you can drop of a neighbor is a big plus. “We cleaned for the Jones family and would really like to do more business in your neighborhood.” To do this, you would need to use an online phonebook and perform your searches by address. My experience is pretty limited selling HB services obviously, but hopefully these ideas can be relatively helpful.
