September 19, 2006 at 3:34 pm #147569AnonymousInactiveI had that happen once. It made me so mad after the van left I marched over and asked what the heck was going on. It never happened again on my block cause I went to everyones door and talked with them. But it does show that we can’t take our neighbors or customers for granted. If we all believe that since we are such nice guys and drive such nice vans and do such good work that people will never ever forget us, we are wrong. We need to market to our customers forever. Including neighbours

But you have to remember most of the people on your block have had there carpets cleaned for many years before you came around and some of them really like the carpet cleaner that they have been using. You would not want one of your customers to stop using you because a new carpet cleaner moved in up the street. Hope this helps!!!

I then proceeded to ask her if any spots came back. She told me they did after 2 weeks. I’ve cleaned for her twice now. They are a young couple with a baby, so I’m sure they’re on a budget. Not everyone is willing to pay for our services so that doesn’t make me angry.

September 20, 2006 at 2:03 am #147573HB2003ParticipantGary,
When I started 6 months ago, I typed up a letter and titled it “Preferred Customer.” I introduced myself on that letter and let everyone know that by being a resident of our neighborhood, they would receive a discount on their carpet cleaning (actually the discount was not much different that what I would later run in ads). Then I added some general info about HB (the intro letter) along with my bus card and went to each house in my neighborhood and passed them out.
I have done three homes so far and each one was cake and the owners were very happy. I will be re-attacking the situation with the holidays approaching…

I thought it would be fun to jump on and give you a hard time.
My question is: Why are you just getting out of bed at the same time that SS is already cleaning? Early bird gets the worm! Just razzen ya dude. Chin Up, I’ve cleaned over 500 homes in a town of less than 10,000 and it’s suprising how many new customers haven’t heard of me yet.September 20, 2006 at 4:32 am #147575AnonymousInactiveSutton
Early bird gets the worm but second mouse gets the cheese.

Can you send me that letter?
Thanks. I owe you.
Vegas. Look me up. I’ll be in the penthouse

September 20, 2006 at 11:46 am #147578pachecoParticipantYou might go to them and offer to clean a room for free and show them what was left behind…little trick I did once. Youmight be surprised to see what is left, especially if they have pets. You will have learned something and possibly gained a customer.

September 21, 2006 at 8:30 am #147580pachecoParticipantYep…you’r right. But after SS and then us, very little will be left behind. And in any event you might get a new customer.
September 21, 2006 at 9:39 pm #147581AnonymousInactive👿 if i see this happening i walk over and remove them quickly, before damage is done.some times it gets ugly,on their end of course, that is ss”s end.i then introduce myself correctly. just kidding!
