Customer has 6 month old “stainmaster” carpet (she bought it from a company I deal with and was referred to us by them so I still have to verify actual carpet brand) and the dog ate a gobstopper and threw it up. Spots were red. My employees visited home yesterday and red dye treated and some of the spots came out fine. One or two they had green come up on the to the towel from the red spot and the spot then turned yellow, and a couple just turned yellow. Customer called me this morning saying spots were yellow. Guys revisited today and said spots were a brighter yellow than yesterday. They tried wood stain remover to remove the yellow (one adds oxygen, the other reduces). Spray and leave. Got call from customer tonight and she said the spots are now red again. ???? Anyone ever seen this? I have once before and it was pollen from a flower on white carpet. In that instance I actually used red dye again and got it back to yellow and I thought yellow was the lesser of two evils as the spot was about the size of a dime. Going to try and contact the carpet store/installer and see what brand it really was and may try calling the carpet manufacturer, but thought I’d see if anyone has seen this before, and if so, any luck getting it out. I realize gobstoppers have many colors/dyes in them, but to have it change back has me stumped.

    Dave,
I have experienced the same yellowing a few times. Today it happened again so I mixed up FAE as I was going to anyway. I soaked the yellowed area with the mixed FAE and cleaned as normal. To my happy surprise it all come out and looked like new!!! Who knew.
